Re: gearwrench 84 tooth ratchet

I've been wondering that as well. The Gearwrench 60&84T action has always seemed much smoother than the 88T Matco ratchets I've used. Matcos were so loud and 'clunky' for having such a high tooth...

Re: Trying to decide between Sunex & Grey Pneumatic impact sockets.

I have no experience with the Grey sockets, but really like the stuff I have from Sunex (misc sockets and a set of impact adapters).

If you're planning on going for a full set of quality impact...

Re: Ir quite impact muffler removal?

The 3/4" drive IR I got used had the bottom vent plastic cut out and the exhaust muffler removed already, so I don't have a reference to know how big of a difference it makes.
I can tell you,...

Re: I need punches that dont suck

That explains it! Was wondering why I was the only one not ranting and raving about how excellent they are (and why it only cost me $30 for a 12pc set!:lol_hitti).

Again, good to know. My old...

Re: Harbor Freight Coupon Thread

I am in full agreement that this thread should be cleaned up, and just stick with posts of coupons being requested, or coupons being provided.

Re: I need punches that dont suck

That's funny, my Dasco punches and chisels have held up extremely well going on 8+ years now. My set of Mayhews I bought a month ago, not so well. Punches have had no issues, but the chisels have...

Re: plvmb, i still use it, why hang it up

My Plvmb 1/2" breaker gets used in the diesel shop almost every day, never had an issue with it. Still made more solid than anything today.

Re: Snap On Must Have Tools?

Get some sets of Snap-On combination wrenches, you'll never bother with those Craftsman wrenches again (although I still think I like my Williams Supercombos more).

Re: Proto 12-Point Single End Ratcheting Wrenches $20 @ Northern Tool

With that sale price on the Protos, the whole set is about the same cost as 1 of the Kastar SAE wrenches.

Re: What did you do with your vintage tools today?

I still use my Plomb 1/2" breaker bar daily trying to break loose overtightened oil pan drain plugs in big Cummins and CAT engines.

Re: Wrench sizes above 1"?

I bought a set of Northern jumbo wrenches and filled all the gaps with USA Kobalts through Cripe. Definitely needed the 1 5/16" Kobalt a couple of times at work.

Re: Does anyone else...

I bought a Blue Point to fill that space, since Snappy doesn't have them anymore. Mixes in just fine with my Williams USA & Snap-On fillers.

Re: The Harbor Freight PASS/FAIL Thread...

I have a set of the 'Grip-On' magnetic trays just like that, and they are GREAT for sticking to the tractor or trailer frame I'm working on to hold my hand tools and the nuts and bolts I'm working...

Re: Any Techs using Williams SuperCombos?

I bought the same Metric set as above, and actually prefer them over my Snap-Ons. The grooves in the open end bite in great, and you can crank on them pretty well with no slippage. In the future I...

Re: Gear wrench ratchets how do they hold up/compare

That's actually why I bought my 3/8" after getting my 1/4". I wasn't a fan of my Matco locking flex after one use where either the head is locked in place, or it just slides around with any pressure...
