Re: 8 tools you should rent, not buy

From a homeowner perspective, paying a little more to have my own tool so I can do the project when I want and at the pace I am comfortable with is well worth the cost. There are some exceptions to...

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

My thoughts exactly. Was thinking it would be great to get the gear and worm machined out of metal, but the time and cost just doesn't make sense. At least it is an cheap and easy fix.

Re: My Deck and Pergola Project

Beautiful work. We are planning out a large deck for our back yard and this certainly gives me some inspiration.

Re: Small tire Sealer: Slime?

Haha...the name of the product made me a little skeptical at first but it seems to be the exact same as the Stans sealant that I've been using for years. Have a few local friends who have had good...

Re: Kitchen Cabinets In the Garage

I turned an old kitchen cabinet into a light duty work table and it works out great (both for my work table needs and for storage).

Perhaps this was said already but the key is to be realistic...

Re: Small tire Sealer: Slime?

The regular Slime only really works for small pinholes...even then it isn't all that great imo. You need something with latex and some solids in it to plug the hole. For tubeless mountain biking...

Re: 2007 Yukon Denali Headlamp repair question

If you found the leak you may want to consider letting the headlight completely dry out then just repair the crack instead of separating the two halves.

Re: 2007 Yukon Denali Headlamp repair question

That is the idea. I like to use a hair dryer and flat blade screw driver to make it easier to remove the old sealant a section at a time. You can also use the hair dryer to reheat the housing if...

Re: 2007 Yukon Denali Headlamp repair question

3M windshield stuff is similar to the above and may be more readily available (I found a really good deal on Ebay a year or so ago). Lots of guys use it to seal vapor barriers on car doors.

Re: hondas new sports car, a legend reborn

Too bad they killed off the S2000. So much potential there...particularly with what seems to be a possible resurgence in affordable RWD sporty cars.

Re: anyone ever get amazon customer service on the phone?

Had one issue where my $90 repair manual arrived with a torn spine from Amazon. We called and they sent a new one via 2-day FedEx before I was able to ship the damaged one back.

We did have a...

Re: Looking at a 1991 Jetta...

VWs of that vintage are very simple, pretty damn reliable, and practically as cheap as anything else from that era to fix...especially if you go with the 8v. Worst thing about them is typically rust...

Re: Our kids will never use...

I agree completely with the first part. The cost part could be an issue. Tablets are way easier to break/destroy than a text book. While the unit cost may end up being a little cheaper, I'm...

Re: cost to replace a mailbox post

$300 sounds about right to have someone else do it. It also sounds like the guy is being nice by going directly through you instead of your insurance. Push comes to shove he has every right to go...

EXACTLY! If you get enough fear in the bully's head that the general population will turn on him/her for picking on someone, it may get him/her to think twice. Sadly our general attitude these days...

Re: Schools and bullying

Perhaps this was already brought up, but I don't think bullying is worse than it was in the past. It seems worse since it gets more media attention these days (similar to child molesters, child...

Re: Our kids will never use...

FL is looking to make text books obsolete. Replacing them with books uploaded to tablets. I have mixed feelings on that since kids tend to be really rough on stuff and I'd hate my kid to miss a...

Re: Our kids will never use...

I fondly remember four of us spinning those as fast as we could trying to get the passenger or passengers to fall off. Good times.
