Re: snap on student discount

Student discount is online and you pay outright. Don't screw yourself loading up on Snappy credit. It's also getting more and more limited what they'll let you buy under the SEP program.

Re: Looking to complete my Hansen Trays. advice? Where can I find cheap Armstrong ?

I too am there with you. All my 1/4" and 3/8" chrome trays are filled, and my impacts I keep on rails. Sure am glad I filled in the 16mm & 18mm sockets. Was working on some CAT 120K graders the...

Re: Is a thumb wheel ratchet useless?

I have a little reversible one (1/4" square and hex) I picked up off of the Matco truck maybe 5 years ago. It's just sat in my road box since. I may have actually used it once.

Between small...

Re: Show your new tool arrivals

Get the XC batteries for that impact. I was using mine all day at work and the bigger batteries make a world of difference in power and run time. That 3/8" had no problem keeping up with all my...

Re: who makes matco torque wrench?

I only have experience with the 1/2" & 3/8" drive Armstrong, Matco and Husky torque wrenches, and they are solidly built and do the job great. The 3/4" is a different round head design, and I've...

Re: The Truck Tool Equivalents Thread 2.0 - Expanded with Part Numbers

For which brand?

There is a good amount of crossover, but I noticed with a lot of the brands they offer the socket sets with one more/less socket so there isn't a direct crossover.

I do...

Re: The Truck Tool Equivalents Thread 2.0 - Expanded with Part Numbers

Well, looks like the amount of Matco Rebrands is so vast, I need to reorganize the pages.:scared: Got a message as I was trying to add some more stuff that the Matco post would be over 10K...

Re: Combination Wrenches Bigger than 3/4" -- Where are you getting them?

I think you're right, it slipped my mind last night. I bought some of the larger Kobalts through them to fill in missing sizes (1-1/4, 1-5/16, etc). They are solid wrenches, good pebble finish, and...

Re: Recommendation for Lighted Inspection Mirror

Standard Matco re-branding.

Those are pretty much the only two lighted inspection mirrors I've seen on the market (the round one in the original post is also sold as Matco HTC2LT and Gearwrench...

Best deal out there for an add-on set up to 1". Kobalt USA m̶a̶d̶e̶ ̶b̶y̶ ̶W̶i̶l̶l̶i̶a̶m̶s̶. No fancy open ends, but I've been using my old Proto Los Angeles wrenches in the larger sizes, and have...

Re: who makes matco torque wrench?

Armstrong was the original offering, Matco is just a different logo stamped in the head, and they are also sold under Gearwrench and Husky with a rubber grip added over the handle.

Re: Looking to complete my Hansen Trays. advice? Where can I find cheap Armstrong ?

I just recently bought an Armstrong 1/4" drive 5/8" impact socket from Cripe for $1.50, definitely a good spot to find filler size sockets (had some missing sizes in my 3/8 IR impact sockets, filled...

Re: who makes better sockets

Either will last more than a lifetime. Williams USA is also another industrial brand option (look for the sets that the Part # starts with letters, the all numbers are Taiwan made).

Re: The Truck Tool Equivalents Thread 2.0 - Expanded with Part Numbers

Wanted to throw this out there:
Feel free to contact the mods if you want to see this thread replace the original "Tool Truck Equivalents" thread as a sticky. I sent a request a while back, but...

Re: Cripe Distributing (new) Web site returns on Jan. 22nd

You should have a small bar on the top of your cart (right side, just above the first item) before you pay that says "Request Total". Click that, it will give you a dialog box to type in "Request...

Re: Cripe Distributing (new) Web site returns on Jan. 22nd

I spoke with Bree over the phone and she said she'd add the 10% discount. There is usually a card that comes with all of their orders that has the discount code on it. If this order includes one,...

Re: Cripe Distributing (new) Web site returns on Jan. 22nd

I did a search to see if there were any new threads on the return of Cripe's website, and this was still the only recent thread to pop up. For those that didn't know (like myself) the site is back,...

Re: Gearwrench flex vs armstrong flex

Get the best of both worlds. Armstrong locking flex and throw a 84T Gearwrench kit into it.:D

I actually do prefer the feel of the 84T Gearwrench over the 88T Matco I had.

I've wondered about the gearless ratchets. Might pick one up when it goes on sale/clearance like all the other Chinese Kobalt gimmick tools (like their short lived LED lighted ratchets), not like I...

Re: The Truck Tool Equivalents Thread 2.0 - Expanded with Part Numbers

I spotted that as well, don't know if it has to do with a stock photo, or if there is a real difference. Need to find out the COO of the Cal Van set, since the Blue Point is USA, and Blue Point =...
