Re: 72-year-old couple building a barn (garage/workshop)

We were set up to start back on it about 5 weeks ago, had a sliver of my hardwood floor go thru my foot. It broke off in the foot and had to have a doctor remove the three quarter inch piece that was...

Nice pics of the original build.
Looking forward to see the step by step of the new one. Weather here has been lousy, but today is the first day of spring and it really feels like it.

Re: 72-year-old couple building a barn (garage/workshop)

The boards and battens are local grown cedar. Rough sawn apx. five eights thick and seven and half wide. We can now only get them in eight foot lengths. When we started the barn we could get them...

Re: 72-year-old couple building a barn (garage/workshop)

No. Only if I was to have plumbing.
Have made only a small amount of progress this year. Weather has been really tough to work around. We are, and have been all day, under a tornado threat. Plus a...

Re: 72-year-old couple building a barn (garage/workshop)

Can't believe I didn't get that. Must have been on more dope than I knew about.
Second procedure seems to have done well. Had to spend the night in Lil Rock because the procedure was scheduled for...

Re: 72-year-old couple building a barn (garage/workshop)

I may be still a little out of it from the stuff they put me out with, so I had Lin read it also. She didn't get it either.

What did you mean where it says (5/8ths) ??

Been to Pagosa Springs...

Re: 72-year-old couple building a barn (garage/workshop)

This was my first time at splitting rails and doing that kind of a fence. So definitely no expert on the subject. Like you, I didn't think that, without mechanical help, I could do it either. However...

Re: 72-year-old couple building a barn (garage/workshop)

You are right on with your measurements.
Would have liked to have used 10 foot spacing which would have made it, 30x40, but the land wouldn't accept it. Would have required a move of the septic...

Re: 72-year-old couple building a barn (garage/workshop)

Well this kinda sucks. I got the fence done, a new A/C- heat pump in the house, and a whole bunch of other stuff out of the way. The idea was to get back to work on the barn. Even the weather was...
