Cool Re: Driver bit set recommendations

I have this Craftsman set at home and another in my work truck. Very handy! Got 'em for $9 each on Black Friday at Sears a couple of years ago....

Re: Bolt Wizard review

Vise-grips and the wire wheel on my bench grinder. Been cleaning up bolts that way for years. I'll spend my money elsewhere.

Re: Which Tool for Cutting Unistrut

I use a chop saw to slice right through Unistrut. You may wanna pick up a metal cutting blade for your miter saw. Same principal.

Cool Re: Fender cover protector? What do you like?

Set a bath towel over the fender then lay an old bath mat on top of that. The mat is weighty and has a rubber backing so it won't slide around. It's thick and cushiony so nothing is gonna dent the...

Cool Re: Anyone else a Sun Equipment junkie??

Saw this sitting outside a thrift shop in the tiny town of Weaverville, CA. Thing is the store was closed and this was sitting on a table outside. A more unscrupulous person could've tossed it in...

Cool Re: Welding cart vs cabinet -preference?

I'm a big fan of welding carts. With a 25' extension cord I can wheel my welders anywhere in the shop I need them. I've got a 110v for sheetmetal and a 220v for everything else. I built this...

Cool Re: does this 220v adapter exist?

The easiest way would be to cut off the 3-prong twist lock and replace it with a NEMA 6-50P. Electrical skills aren't necessary. Strip 1/2" of insulation off each wire, insert into the terminals...

Re: Question about welder wire feed

My Lincoln came with a regulator and no gauge. I didn't use it 'cause I plumbed into the bottle with the 'Y' valve so I could use my existing gauges. I'm thinking the 'no gauge regulator' is preset...

Cool Re: Question about welder wire feed

The 110v units are really only good for welding sheetmetal and steel up to 1/8" but they're great machines to learn on. I just picked up a cheap Lincoln Ebay special so I can weld sheetmetal and...

Cool Re: Need a miter saw recommendation please

Don't discount craigslist. My local CL is filled with 'em. You don't want one that was used by a contractor. A saw owned by a home hobbyist that's lightly used is your best bet. I found this 12"...

Cool Re: Need advice on champion brute platinum drill bits

I'll probably get flamed for this but, all this talk about high end drill bits just doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Unless you're a machinist doing precision work a set of cheap twist drill bits...

Re: Compressor info needed

Probably a couple hundred pounds. A cherry picker, cheap HF ratchet straps and a pickup truck are your friends.

Cool Finished my welding cart.

I blew out the contactor and range switch on my 220v rig due to all the sheetmetal stitch welding I did on the roadster. Several hundred $$$ to repair it! That prompted me to pickup a cheap 110v...

Re: I need some decent jackstands.

I went with some of the recommendations here and ordered 4 of the Craftsman 4-ton stands. I like the feet, that and lots of good reviews sold me. $65 and free shipping to my door. Only problem is...

Cool I need some decent jackstands.

They don't need to be 1/2" steel, I just need something that'll work. I just bought some 3-ton Pittsburg HF stands.............OMG! Looks like they're made with 14ga sheetmetal and they won't even...

Cool Re: How do you clean funnels

Simple Green and a rag gets the dust, dirt and residue out easily. Build a simple funnel rack and the majority of the fluid will drain down.

Re: What's wrong with my air compressor?

Almost forgot about this thread! Problem solved. Purchased a new pressure switch and now the compressor unloads properly. I had the compressor shop put an analog meter on the capacitor and it...

Re: What's wrong with my air compressor?

As far as I can tell, when the compressor hits it's setpoint it shuts off automatically but the arm isn't popping up to contact and push in the unloader pin, hence the problem. Just got off the...

Cool Re: What's wrong with my air compressor?

Thanks for all the help, James! I may have it figured out now. I pulled the unloader valve and cleaned it out really good. When I flip it upside down, the pin slides in and out easily. I threw up...

Cool Re: What's wrong with my air compressor?

OK, I removed the larger brass valve (I call it a PRV), cleaned it up and sprayed WD40 inside. Opened and closed it several times and it moves freely. Is that the unloader valve or is it a pressure...

Cool What's wrong with my air compressor?

Normally, when it cycles it builds up air pressure to about 130psi, shuts off automatically and then gives a pssssssst sound. Now, it builds up pressure to 130psi, shuts off automatically and...
