Re: how difficult to make an english wheel?

Do a search on Metalmeet.com or Allmetalshaping.com
There are many discussions and examples of good machines on those 2 sites.

Re: Machine Shop Tools Advice on "For Sale" Items

I'd pass. It's all pretty small capacity. The mill is probably the least useful machine on that table. I work in a machine shop full time and I can probably count on one hand the number of times I...

Re: Can a car guy pour / finish concrete?

One thing to know up front, you don't pour concrete. You place it. Big difference in the percieved effort required to get it flat.

Re: Why the hate for used "engraved" tools?

I bought a whole box full of tools from a retired diesel mechanic. This was about 40 years ago and when I get too old to pull wrenches I'll sell them to the next guy. These tools have a history. They...

Re: will a end mill cut railroad track?

Use a 4 flute end mill. Keep the surface speed below 80 feet per minute. Use lots of oil. Chip load should be about .002 per tooth. Peep the quill all the way up and keep the cutter as short in the...

Re: building dream garage, need bucket list ideas

Re: How old were you when you built your (dream?) garage?

I built my first dream garage at about age 35, a 24 X 26' with a loft. Then I moved and the dream got a little bigger. 30 x 40 with a loft at age 45. Then I moved again and I built my last dream...
