Re: Lawn Care Service
This. Plus they tend to do a "one size fits all" type operation. Much better to get your soil tested, get a recommendation for what YOUR lawn needs, and do it yourself.

Re: 9 ft or 10 ft Garage Walls?
Go with a 2' stem wall so that you can hose things down without getting the framed walls wet.
I went with a 2' stem wall and 8' walls. My biggest regret was not going at least 12' so I could put a...

Re: I want a TIG! Syncrowave 250 any good?
I picked up a newer 250DX (has the digital volt and amp readouts on the front) with some accessories and a water cooler for just over $2K. I'd say that is a bit overpriced.

Re: Tack vs Continuous Welding
One issue with overlapping tack welds with flux-core is that you're running the risk of getting the slag included into the weld - making the weld weaker.
The "stack of dimes" is from the motion of...

Re: Proper etiquette for copying GJ ideas?
I'd talk to someone before I went into full scale production of something, but using someone else's idea for myself and a few buddies isn't outside the line as far as I'm concerned. I'd expect the...

Re: Should I replace my insulation
Ok, my mistake. I thought I had seen charts that it was actually less. But R19 does drop to R13 in a 2x4 wall - not more than R13 like TtTM said.

Re: Should I replace my insulation
Nope and nope. Batt insulation works on the principle of "trapping" air. When you compress it, it removes those air voids and lowers the R value. So compressed R19 can have less insulating capacity...

That's typically how such projects go. Clean up one thing and then you notice the next thing that needs to be cleaned up... :lol_hitti

Re: Should I Insulate??
As CNG mentions, you don't say where you are located. But no matter where you are, insulation is likely a good idea. It will keep things warmer in winter and cooler in summer even without added heat...

Re: garage plans online or create your own?
Plans online are most likely to be cheaper. They draw them up once and make hundreds of copies of them. Same cost savings as having someone make you one-off of anything vs. having some plant in China...

Re: drafting program
Totally disagree. I use 3D from start to finish on every project I do. Helps me to understand how it is all going to go together and helps clients understand what is going on.

First question would be whether there are more detailed specifications than that? Items such as the doors, windows, and plumbing fixtures could vary widely. Are you getting the "bargain basement"...

If I understand you, you originally didn't even get flow to spigot #1. What did you find when you replaced the pipe from the tank to #1?

Re: what type spring is best?
Pretty much everything has gone to torsion springs. And they're not that difficult to replace. Personally, I think they're easier than inline springs.
The torsion spring is contained when it...
