You mean you actually have something that will filter a scent thru the vents??? That is the coolest thing.....I always wondered were those stores in the mall that has those filtration systems were they filter a specific smell through the air

Where do you get something like that?????

Huh? I just put a couple air filters on my compressor so I can have really clean air. Then those bottle are pearl for mixing in paint. I had to stop using my compressor for a while cause I was getting so much water out the hose. Made my paint go on like cottage cheese. So now that I have very clean air coming out I can use better prodcuts. But the air does smell pleasent out of the hose.

I wouldnt go that far. Those filters are very close to the compressor, so i doint know exactly how much moisture they are really going ot be collecting. What you want is a dessicant filter close to your gun, as those absorb somethin like 99% of moisture.

That's what I used when I set my gun up so that my wife could paint her wicker furniture. The results were fantastic. and the filters are erally pretty cheap, esp. if you getthem at Harbor Freight.

Yeah, id definetly look into getting a moisture-specific filter for down line close to your gun. If you look up the thread on the Finishline 3 paint gun, I posted a few links on there to things you may be interested in.

gotcha... but a dessicant filter liek any of the ones shown is a must for painting, b ecuase those sort of filters will seperate water fromt he air if the drops are big enough, but itwont really provide dry air.

Well the mositure problem occurs because as air is compressed, the water vapor in the air turns into larger "droplets". THis is due to the compression and the rapid heating of the air. refridgerated dryers work by rapidly cooling the air so the vapor condenses.

I understand....but why use a filtration system if your only working on cars??? Usually the garage door will be open....I can understand a filtration system in a woodworking shop though

This is filtration for his compressed air system. Hes painting cars. Moisture kills apaint job, it causes the "orange peel" in the finish that he was indicating, and it affects the overall longevity of the paint. Moisture in air lines when painting is bad. PERIOD!

Dessicant filters are a much cheaper way to go than a refridgerated air dryer, and produce similar results. The only problem comes in because with these types of filters the moisture absorbing element neesds to be changed/dried out, which can get sort of costly, however it is still much more "economical" for hte weekend painter than buying a refridgerated air dryer.

Also, THe filters that attatch to the gun are probably your best bet, so that you arnt getting 100% dry air allthe time when its not necessary.

Ahhhhh okay....this is defently an exception....but someone that just works on there car in a garage and that is all...no wood working then this type of system isnt overkill....and people need to know that
