I am pretty sure this is not an approved jack usage

I used my cherry picker to yank a nasty stump. And it was my GF's idea!

And I've been known to peel an orange with a Cman screwdriver. So now, I don't feel so bad.

Worked out pretty well for them, but wish the jackwagon with the camera didn't turn it sideways.

Cherry pickers work really good for pulling stuff out of the ground. I used mine to pull all the deck posts out of my backyard - all but two of them were just sunk into the ground, the last 2 (which were the posts for the base of the stairs up to the deck) were the only ones in concrete... :headscrat :wtf:

I tore the welds on my 2T cherry picker doing that... and most of the roots were cut away from the stump. FWIW, the one pesky root that was left was wrapped around the water main, before the house shutoff. :shocking:

Why didn't you just wash the orange and eat the peel? Good fiber! and cheaper than Metamucil.

Interesting and innovative use of your jack. Surprised it worked because it looked like your tree was still alive.

Hiball may come in here to correct me, but isn't it commonly accepted that using a floor jack on its side could damage the jack?

I cut half way though this huge **** tree and pulled it down with the truck to control the fall better. I then used the truck in 4x4 to drag the tree out of the yard to another area. Any they said it could not be done.

I've used hi-lift jacks to pull stumps frequently.

But the most outrageous way is to use my Hummer H1 and a strap. The truck is so heavy (almost 9K lb with a full tank), that few stumps can take more than a couple of snatches. A strap is necessary to absorb the shock.

As to the video, that was cute, but I see he had cut it partially before using the jack, I suspect that he could have just used traditional methods (or a cable/winch) to bring it down too...
