This 2 CNC 372 is stamped into the base of my Bridgeport Series II.

I'm trying to determine year of manufacture, but it's out of the range of serial numbers I've found listed online.

Moreover, a page in the manual shows a photo, which based on appearance leads me to believe this machine is post serial #7126.

Frankly, I am baffled and any help would be appreciated.

Larry,

The photo of the serial number (above) is the one I snapped from between the ways up front, which is why I am baffled. Anyway, no, she's not a project . . . she's a working gal.

Meanwhile, I'm awaiting a phase converter to push her into the place in the toolroom so I can make some chips. That, and fumes are less of an issue by working in front of the open 14' door (with the fan blowing) while we clean her up with mineral spirits.

Looks like a BOSS 6 from here.

Dunno about the serial number... Maybe an early BOSS machine got a head transplant?

Hardinge will know, but they transferred technical support over to their newly-formed "dealer network" last year. Good luck getting any info out of them. The factory guys in Elmira that actually know stuff are out of reach to even the dealers. If the dealers have a question they have to fill out a "support ticket".
