Half way down the page there are links to half a dozen floor jack threads. This one is too recent to be on the list I think, http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=13327 |

I have the Model 200T - 2 Ton Speed Jack "Low Rider" Low Profile Floor Jack that on the link below. I really like the jack a lot. Fits under everything and lifts real nice. Also it wont break the bank either!

if you want a light weight aluminum one, you should check out your local costco not the website. my local costco sells 2 lightweight arcan jacks at $99 for the 2 ton and $139 for the 3 ton. they both have dual piston, knurled handle, padded shaft and about 45-50 lbs. they look pretty identical with the 2 ton being all silver, and the 3 ton has a blue base. also i believe the 2 ton has a low height of 3.5 in and the 3 ton was advertised at 4 in. with both with a max. height of a little over 17 in.

Stay away from Craftsman's race jacks. I had to return two of them within a year period. Their would leak down not hold and blow out the seal. So I got a ATD Tuner Edition 2-Ton Low Profile Jack from a local parts store. I paid close to $300 but feel that the is very cheaply made. The jack does works great just cheap cast metal.

How low is low?
How long of a reach do you need at that height? I love my AC Hydraulics jack. If you have the money, I think they're the best thing out there.

No anyone can buy from them. If I remember correctly the jack I posted just makes it under the weight limit and will be shipped free. Just give them a call and ask just to make sure. They were real nice over the phone to me. They also will price match if you find it cheaper somewhere else.

This set works well and is fairly low profile:

I just went though this a few days ago.
My race car sits 3/4-1" off the ground at some points, it's LOW. You actually have to lift the front of the car (suspension sag) to get even the lowest jack under it. I was looking at the 1.5 ton aluminum Michelin low-profile jack that is min height 3.8 inches or something like that. I was very close to buying it, until I found a 2 ton Carquest jack that sits 2.9 inches at minimum height. This is the lowest affordable jack I have found, and it was on sale, so I grabbed it. The display model in the store appeared to be very solid. I am about to go take mine out of it's box and assemble it, I'll let you know how I like it.

My local Harbor Freight had these US General Aluminum Racing Floor Jacks on sale for $149 (reg. $199). My first higher grade jack (as apposed to the $20-$40 ones) and looks very nice. Feels solid and very well constructed.
The thing that kinda sorta annoyed me is their website did not indicate it was on sale. I just happen to drop by. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=92782 Some thumbnails:

That's exactly the one I ended up buying! Went to the store and they even had it down at the regular price I didn't even know it was on sale until I checked out. Harbor Freight does that all the time. Anyway, it seems to be a solid jack and I can slide it right under my car! |

Another vote for the extended version AC Hydaulic. Its reach and quality is well worth the $$ every time you use it
