When trying to solder a larger thermal mass, the higher power output and higher heat capacitance of the gun become important.

Haven't found anything my weller wouldn't handle, but I also have a monster tin smiths soldering iron that solders large items very quickly. Something much much older, but not far from this 550 watt American Beauty iron.

Yeah, I've had to borrow that kind of iron on occasion. Think of the gun everyone is talking about as a mid-point between something like a little Weller and that giant iron. The guns come into play when you start soldering a lot of 1 and 2 gauge stuff.

Re: Craftsman 10' Universal Miter Saw Stand for $67.49

Would it work for a 12 inch saw

It should, It does say "Universal" correct?

I was confused also but it says 10' foot Universal not 10" inch

Those things are usually pretty basic on how the saw mounts to them

GL with Sears website, lol

Long time member, frequent lurker here :). This is just too good to not get in on.

^^understatement of the century. I spent about 10min in online "chat" with Sears.com tonight trying to get them to explain why the 12 piece metric impact socket set would not show up at the Craftsman Club advertised price of 44.95 instead of the 15% off price of 59.99. No help of course. As a developer myself I find it quite impressive that they can screw up an ecommerce site to the extent they have managed to do.

Here's the interesting part...

Sears: I see that actual cost of "Craftsman 12 pc. Metric Easy to Read Impact Socket Set, 6 pt. Deep, 1/2 in. Drive " and "Craftsman 12 pc. Standard Easy to Read Impact Socket Set, 6 pt. Deep, 1/2 in. Drive " is $59.49.
Sears: Unfortunately the sale price listed was part of a promotion that has now ended. The price in the cart is actually the correct price.
...
ME: Hmm. That doesn't seem correct. The Craftsman Club flyer sale runs from 7/10-7/16 and it should still be valid as today is only 7/15. Since I am a CC member and logged in as such on the sears/craftsman website I should see the 44.95 advertised price I think.
ME: If you look at the "special offers" for that product it even list the Craftsman Club special along with the current 15% online special.
...
Sears: I see that "Craftsman Club special discount may not apply if current promotional discount for an item on Sears.com is greater than Craftsman Club discount."
Sears: Craftsman Club discount appears in cart as MEMBER SAVINGS.
Sears: To see discount in cart, you must be logged-on at Sears.com and have Craftsman Club activated on your Sears.com profile.
ME: OK. Makes sense that discounts don't stack. However, the Craftsman Club price of 44.95 is roughly 50% off the normal 89.99 price. The current online discount only brings it to 59.99. Obviously the CC discount is much better.
ME: Also, I have verified I am logged in and my profile is listed as a CC member.
ME: Simply put. When I add the 00915887000 item to my cart it should be 44.95 as advertised in CC flyer. This works fine for 00915886000 which is also advertised at same 44.95 price. Same products. Only difference is one is SAE and the other metric. I think the pricing online is not correct.
Sears: I do understand your concern.
Sears: Right now we have two options.
Sears: I would suggest you to please call to place the order by phone in order to save this Craftsman Club discount.
Sears: Or you can visit our nearest store to purchase this item.
Sears: I see that the items are available in your nearest stores.

Count me in for 1 just ordered it guess ill wait and see if it gets cancelled like the last 2 amazon orders.:headscrat

Just ordered mine. Sounds like NOS. Not from Amazon, but a supplier in NE Indiana. Item had low feedback score because of bad SK warranty service, but that has hopefully changed and new company will warranty these.

A little search shows that the new SK does not make this exact model, but if it's a good ratchet.......!

Is SK keeping this design or warranty parts? I wonder if you would just get one of their ratchets from them.

Someone is going to get in trouble on that one....big pricing error ($11 vs $69). Vendors usually have an escape clause somewhere on their site claming "not responsible for typographical errors". SD

No but you do you know if you could use the $50.00 back code with other codes?
I did just use "DEALIO" for $40.00 off $100.00 or more.
And they are running free shipping on orders over $75.00.
So I got a $105.00 Ready strut, (Monroe Econo Matic) and a $14.00 16MM open stock flat ratchet for $83.72 with tax and free shipping.
The struts were not showing in stock for pick up.

Stuey,

thanks for that link, what is interesting is that the ebay shipping charges are about half of what the Amazon charges are.

Thanks again,

Derek
You're welcome! I got an email from "Bob" this morning with the tip. Normally I don't share ebay deals of any kind, but that one seemed quite good. I had to do a double check at the prices and also checked the included model numbers before being convinced it was legit. I almost have to sit on my hands right now to stop myself from ordering the combo!

I picked up a new in box drywall dolly from Harbor Freight today for the clearance price of $3.97. Regular price is $114, with an online clearance price of $40.00. Item # 94883.

Welcome, appreciate the first post. Can you expand on how you got it for under $4? Did the store just have it marked at that price or did you use some other discount?

They are discontinued and the stores' computers have them marked down to $3.97. If interested, call ahead to your nearest HF. Great for storing sheetrock rather than leaning them against the wall.
