Paint garage door weather seal?

I have a garage door seal that looks like the one below. I would like to paint the seal when I have the house painted so the color matches the trim and door.

However, I'm concerned the paint on the flexible flap won't last as long as the house paint, and perhaps cause cracking and peeling later on, and before the house will need repainting.

The garage door faces the sun and experiences direct sunlight, rain, and cold temperatures in the winter. I presume there's a lot of expanding and contracting. Also, people will most likely bump the side trim when going through the doorway.

Will painting the flexible trim with quality exterior latex paint last as long as the house paint? Or is it risky to think it will last very long, and just not paint it?

Thanks in advance.

I don't think the paint will last more than 2 months.
That seal comes in different colors. Find one that more closely matches or contrasts your door color.

I use Cabots Pro VT solid color stain color matched to the paint, last for years. Just don't paint the lip seal as it will harden the seal and make it crack. Also remember to wash the seal first with a mild mix of Dawn dish detergent to remove the release agent from manufacturing.

They painted mine when the house was done a few months back.

Now it curls just enough to give me a 1/4 inch gap all the way around.

So now it doesn't seal.

And now I am going to have to replace it if I don't want to air condition the world.

In phoenix the paint lasts about a year before it starts to crack and come off.

Mine were painted when the house was bulit 5 years ago. They directly face the afternoon sun which is brutal. It still is in good condition and seals properly.

Mine are also painted without any problems on both homes in Colorado and Arizona, both sets of doors on both houses get the full afternoon sun. I think it'd look like hell if they were not painted. Im just thinking ou loud if you will, i wonder if there isnt a weatherseal that can accept and hold paint better then others? BTW, the paint on mine is Sherwin Williams "Duration".

Why try to change the type of seal when you can just use the right paint? Some of you guys remind me of someone who puts his pants on after his shoes.

Not the best idea to paint. Alot of times it never dries because it is vinyl and when it gets humid it tends to stick to the door. I have seen it stick so much it tears the top of the door up where the operatoir pulls it up and down.

As also mentioned it will sometimes curl and not seal well. What color are you painting it? It comes in different colors so sometimes it is good get a color as close as possible and just paint the trim part and not the flap.
