I bought 3 40" TV's early this morning one for the bedroom, one for garage, and one for the basement.... also bought a surroundsound/radio for the garage....

I am just starting to wonder if 40" TV is gonna be big enough for the garage, maybee i should have bought a 65" for the garage... or maybee put my projector out there.

How do you guys have your tvs setup?

Mine is a lowly 32" and is over in the corner with my pub table seating area . I do have it on a swiveling/extending mount that goes out from the wall about 2 feet and swivels in all directions .

so it seems like 40" will work fine.... The more i think about it i will probably listen to it more than i watch it, unless im just messing around out there.... but that doesnt happen much, my customers keep me pretty busy and i rarely ever have only 1 project of my own going lol....

I like the swivel idea, then i can point it in the general area im in :)

I have a 40 in mine. Its a really good size for the garage. I use it alot for the music stations. It also has a LAN connection that I plan to wire to stream music. Sometimes I like to have the news on. Comes in great for instructional DVDs. I'm also in the process of installing a CCTV system and plan to interface the TV to the DVR. This will make quick work if I need to do any quick searches or for just monitoring while working inside with the doors closed. As far as location goes I put mine on the wall. Check out Parts Express for some cool deals on mounts, cables, boxes etc.

Also my wife has to watch TV downstairs if a football game is on and I have friends over. Now we can just setup some lounge chairs in the garage and everybody's happy.

While we are talking TVs I worked on them for years back in the day when going to college and on the side up until about 8-10 years ago. I have always been a Sony guy. This year I upgraded my TVs in the house and decided to go with Samsung. Back then I thought of them as economy TVs and thought they were pretty much junk. I couldn't believe how much they had changed. My wife was shocked when I decided go with a Samsung over a Sony.

32 inch SONY LED, mounted on the furnace closet wall (furnace closet houses furnace for living space over the garage). I really don't ever use the TV in the garage, which is a shame for the amount of $ I spent on the damn thing, the only reason I really have it is because every cool garage needs a bitchin TV.

1Bad LS I picked up my extending /swivel mount on evilbay for less than $60.00 . The cheapest I could find one local that would do the same thing was over $200.00 for a TV over 30" .

Mine is on top of the refridgerator about in the center of the long wall of the shop. If I turn it to the right it will face the woodshop part of the garage, if I urn it to the left it will face the the part of the shop that I work on cars, trucks, and antique tractors. The only problem is the torpedo heater drowns out the sound of the tv so I can only run it during commercials.

I have a 40" in my 28x33' garage, I think its perfect. Its mounted on one of the long walls on a swing out swivel mount. The ability to pull it away from the wall is great if you need to plug something into it. And its nice to angle it side to side, depending on where I am in the garage.

I have an Cheap Old 13" TV mounted on a swivel arm that hangs from the ceiling.
I never have the TV on while I am working in the garage alone (usually Music)
But If I am helping someone with their car and a Football game is on, well then..Its On!

Mine is out of the way, takes up almost no room and uses up no wall space.

I like turning on overhauling, top gear, and some times american chopper out in the garage while I work. I've also watched some car docs, race docs, and other motorhead related stuff out in the garage.

After working 30 years in the TV broadcasting industry, I can tell you that television ***** really bad.
The only TV allowed in my garage is one waiting for a trip to the junkyard.

I have a 32" Flat Screen on a wall that is 13't x 30' ... Kinda small for the wall size but it does work out well. I have the sound going through the stereo.

A 60" would be much nicer ... but I dont watch much TV down there anyways so the 32" is fine. I have a remote controlled digital antennea on the roof and it picks up 18 - 30 channels depending on the day.

I have an inexpensive 32" on an articulated arm. Works well no matter where I'm working in the garage.

Are cool temps (40 degrees in the garage, in the winter) a problem with a LCD tv?

I have a 32" lcd tv that doubles as my computer monitor (or visa versa). Never had problems with the cold. Has gotten into the 20's in there.

Music is ok for me in a garage. A TV would be distracting and I have to many blades, bits and jaws:D spinning to have anything draw my attention. I have one tv and that is becoming one to many with the basic programming.

I put an older 46" Hitachi HD projection tv in my man room in garage, want to upgrade to 50" flatpanel someday. I also want to mount a flat panel 32"-40" up high in the corner of the working area of the garage so I can check out the race/game while wrenching. Don't have fridge yet but need one bad...wife getting tired of me raiding the house icebox to fill my beer cooler :)

The day I'll have a garage (in about 4 years) I might get tired of the 55" in the living room and give it a new house in the garage ;)

Since it has a VGA input I imagine I could use it a lot to check howtos, youtubes explanations, shop for parts and idle on GJ :D

Bug seriously the main goal of such a huge display would be to be able to read instructions from a distance, like while working on a car. Our printer burned when a part of the house went to flames and havent replaced it yet.. Trying to stay greener, if I could say.

i made my own swivel mount for my 40" flatscreen. when i bought the tv, they gave me a wallmount bracket so used that to fab up the ceiling mount. it bolts thru the ceiling to a steel saddle over one of the trusses. i also fabbed up a shelf that attaches to the bracket & hangs just under the t.v. to hold the cable box & dvd player. all in all, i have about $20 worth of materials & my time invested.

I have both a 27" old school TV and a 13" old school TV in the garage. If I'm working one direction I can see it or the other direction I can see the other.

I did try to talk the wife into a new TV so I could take the 55" Plasma out to the garage but that didn't go over too well. Aarons had an advertisement for a 73" LCD for $1500. I tried to convince her that the older we get the larger TV we need. :lol_hitti
