must be heavy, i have been wanting one for a while, top gear as a nice engine table on their show, what i really like about yours is you used the existing holes to mount the rods and pistons, i have not seen it done like that, i am on the hunt for a aluminum block that is a deal....in time i hope to have one like yours!

That is really a great table. I wish I had the room for one.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Finally a use besides scrap for an old Ford engine! So hard to find any Chevy junk, guess they just last forever. KIDDING! :lol_hitti

That table is friggin' AWESOME! I would have countersunk some casters for mobility. Guessing it'll leave a mark when someone has to move it in a pinch. :)

Once again, awesome table! Despite our house being largely decorated with car stuff, one of these would be hard to get her to let me have as a coffee table. :(

Yeah I couldn't come up with a leg/caster design I liked so I just finish a glue-lam beam I had laying round and used that. Slides good on the carpet! Wife said only way I can keep it in the house is if it stays in the office

Well.................

Over the weekend I sorted and hauled to the dump three full size pick-up loads from the shelves and cabinets in the garage.

I'll soon start a "Build" thread.

This place (GJ) is awsome, I've got the fever.

installed a ventless heater.. 30k BTU with blower, and a 100lb tank sits outside the garage.

first time installing one of these. wasnt to bad drilling through the wall was quick work with a Hilti and a 36" bit

installed a shut off valve right below the heater.

fired it up and it works great!. puts out tons of heat. heated the garage to 70 degrees in no time

Wired in my new Fahrenheat 5k heater and am impressed how evenly it raised and sustained temp. Now to finish insulating and drywalling.

Well...wasn't on duty and didn't have any jobs scheduled so, i finally rebuilt my lawn mower carb (that hasn't ran in 3 years) it's amazing what ethanol gas does to things. Fixed the water leak coming inside on the neighbors Lincoln. Replaced the cam and belt on my honda pressure washer....pressure washed the deck, patio, concrete drive then started on rebuilding my Makita concrete saw...

^^^ Very cool DICKEY!!!!!!

I'm on my way out right now. My typical Thursday/Friday routine: walk kids to school, come back and relax with the 'puter and a coffee, then it's off to the shop!

Todays episode: finish this carb rebuild and get the '56 running as good as it looks!!

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

All in preparation for insulation and close-in to start over my 12 day holiday break.

Emptied shelves, sorted and tossed. Boxed up the keepers. Disconnected 120 vac switching and outlets. Spent some more time at the drawing table playing with the new floor plan for cabinets and equipment.

Looks like a bomb went off in there. But it's gotta' get worse before it gets better, right?

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

I reworked the front bumper on my 1954 R-132 International dump truck. It has a home built bumper that was poorly mounted. I pulled it off, straightened it, made up some bottom brackets and welded them on to the bumper. Primered it, bolted it back on and then painted it black. It has four more bolts in it now and is nice and solid and shiney.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Grand daughter came by today, huged my neck, asked if I would look at her ford ESCAPE. Oil and filter change, replace rear brakes, rotate tires, fix coolant leak, another hug and shes gone. It was great having her around the shop for a number of hours today.

Best post so far, priceless.....

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Put lower control arm bushings on the driver's side of the '30 Chevy today. My dad did the passenger side a few weeks ago, said it took him almost 6 hours. I did it in 20 minutes, and that was taking my time. Used the lift when he didn't, I cut some 4x4's down so I could use them as a support to jack up one side. Our 4 poster doesn't have a sliding center jack to lift the wheels off the treadways.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Going to put new 7.50 x 16, or equalivalent, on front of F 350. Going to put take off tires on front of one tractor, plus swap one old front tractor tire on to a spare rim. The old spare is age cracked, never been used, that's the best way to keep from having flats is to have a spare.

Took leaking front tire off another tractor and took it to be fixed. 3 patches and it went flat by the time I got home, will take it back tomorrow. Drat thorns anyway. Tire place had to order 7.50 x 16s, will be bias tires at about $120, which is not too bad considering yesterday I paid $90 each for 2 tires for the Toyota tacoma. I've head that over the past year tires went up 25%.

All this pretty much killed the day.

Ouch!

As to my day in the garage... Tinkered with my old Nissan 720. Gave up searching for my mityvac, so I spent the $35 for another (now I'll find my old one tomorrow). Replaced the rubber clutch hose, then sucked the clutch system dry and pulled new fluid through 'til it came out clean. Closed it up and it seems to work fine now. Parking brake isn't holding as strongly as I'd like, so I guess I should sort that out too. Maybe tomorrow.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

I found a local hardware store shuttings its doors for the last time tomorrow. I went there today and loaded up on all sorts of screws, bolts, nuts, etc.
My garage is loaded with all sorts of goodies for those future projects.

Re above post:

Finished swapping tires around and got new tires. The F350 sure drives better with new fronts.

The tire that was flat again had a hole in the tube that he had missed.
