Hello everyone! I think it is my time to post some pictures of my half completed build. The city planners and their great wisdom would only allow 24x32 but I don’t know if I would have wanted to go much larger on this lot in the suburbs. My shop will be used for woodworking and auto restoration. So I will have some issues to deal with, dust and welding around dust. When the time comes I will have to ask for some ideas on how to deal with the dust. I currently have a wood shop in my basement but the wife and I want this moved outside so we can finish the basement with a home theater a bedroom and bath. I also have an attached heated and insulated 24x30 garage on the house so all the bikes, lawn mowers and ect will be spared from my shop. I have always liked having two hobbies going so when I get burnt out on one project I have something else different to do. i also want to some day build a woody from scratch. That why I am calling my shop Minnesota wooden auto garage.

Thanks for looking,

Joe

Joe,

Looks like a great place you have going up there.
What are your plans for insulation and interior finish?
Pictures of your basement workshop would be great and give us an idea of what you plan to move into the new digs.
BTW welcome to GJ

Keep the pics coming. Looks like 2x6 walls. That should keep you warm and cozy when it gets cold. I'm in the frozen (sometimes) north tundra of MN too.

Thanks for the coments guys. i am planing on finishing the inside and heating it. heat is almost required in Minnesota. I have one quote to to spray foam the walls with 2.5" of closed cell polyurathane (This foam guy says this would be better than 6" bats) and blown in for the celing for $2400. I was hoping it wouldn't be that much so i may but bats in the walls myself. I will get some more quots in the spring. My plan is to finish the inside with sheetrock but i may put a wainscoting on to improve the look and prevent damage to the sheetrock. I will take some pictures of the basement shop as soon as i get a min.

Thanks for looking,

joe

chargedup!, I am in the north west metro. I took a look at your thread on your shed build it looks nice. The overhang on the roof makes it look alot better. I added put a 2' overhang on my garage because I liked the look. Where are you at?

Here are some pictures of my basement woodshop that will be moving into the new garage this summer.

Minnesota? The only finishing touch you need is some photos of "Lutefisk" on your walls.

Joe you are making some great progress for this time of year. I guess you can thank La Nina for the fair weather.
Your wood shop looks great. How do you like your dust collection system?

49 degrees today and zero snow on the ground. Considering this is normally the coldest week of the year it feels more like early April. Great weather for construction, not so good for winter sports. :)

Meh. Winter sports ****. :) my commute is so much easier right now without the snow, I'll gladly give up any of that activity.

Anyways, the shop looks great!
What other plans are there for the '49?

Nice. My buddy up in Nowthen has a '53 Chevy that he's working on. He also bought a spare for parts recently.
Do you ever go to the 5-8 during the season for their Tuesday night car shows?
