Well I finally got into my new garage. I’m renting it from a local company that rents these places out. Back in WWII the area was a bomb making facility. These were the bunkers they were storing the bombs in. The new company owns the building thus is responsible for the roof and such, the inside is my responsibility. The size is about 30 wide and 60 long. The walls are concrete and buried. The front wall is wood with a 7' roll up door. The rent is $54.16mo. It is a secured property with armed guards doing random patrols!
There is no electricity to the place so I’ll be looking for a generator. I’ll use a propane space heater for cold days. I now have plenty of room to spread out and build my jeep:bounce:

Awesome!

We need more pictures!

Is it rent to own? Month-by-month rent? Lease?

it is a rent, but you either pay 2x a year or 1x a year...I wish it was a rent to own...I may have to ask! But after they put a new roof on it ;)

I remember your last post about asking about a space. For the price, you can't go wrong, especially for the security!
Looking forward to some interior pictures!

Just an update, I started moving in. I spent a little time with some expansion foam filling in some cracks a wall and some holes in the roof. The size is a little bigger than I expected (hate it when that happens :lol_hitti) its 26’6” x 73’. I’m not real sure the direction I’m going to take with the shop. I have grand dreams, but where I’m not going to own it, I don’t want to “waste” money on improvements. Also there are the mouse issues. Here are a few more pictures.

Where is this? Nothing good like this ever pops up around here. Oh, and for your mouse problem, you can do what my dad dose in his barn for winter boat storage. This is not his idea, sure he got it off the interwebs somewhere. Get a 5 gal bucket and fill it half way with water, old coolant, what ever you like. Then put two holes in the top and feed a rod with a old beer can squired through the holes. Cover the can in peanut butter. Build a ramp to the rod, mice go up, walk out to the can, fall in, go to forever sleep. Nice thing is you don't have to re set it or deal with it if your gone for extended periods of time.

Just grabbed this pic off Google.

That's freakin sweet. I once Stumbled on a real estate broker's website that sold off old missile silos around the country for private homes. The kind of places that had 130' deep tubes of concrete and 3-4 floors underneath the ground on massive empty acreage.

I'll be following the Jeep site also. I've got a built 99 TJ- 35s, locked, loaded, etc.

Neato. I'd rent that for $600 and change a year, too. First thing I'd do would be to paint alllll that block with some white paint, just to brighten it up.

Get you a renters policy, just in case, but other than that, just enjoy. Maybe rig up a small solar system/batteries to run lights off of? No good for welding or heavy tool usage, but to get a few bulbs burning shouldn't be too spendy, and I bet you could sell it on later if you wanted to.

verry nice you're going to need a big *** generator to run all the equipment for a full functioning Jeep shop. A buddy of mine has a share in an old bunker here in Utah

Lots of potential with "nothing" in it....Can't beat a clean slate start like that. Like mentioned before, some white paint on the walls and that will make it brighter.

Love the mouse trap idea, going to steal that one!
