I really like the set up you went with in your shop. What pitch roof did you go with and how much head room did you end up with the attic rafters. I just got a qoute on a 4/12 pitch and it didnt seem to leave much room in the attic rafters.

How did you prep the site for using a pad slab instead of doing a foundation? Theres no worry about the slab moving a lot or cracking due to frost heaves?

The roof pitch is 6/12 giving me 65.5" from floor to the trusses, at least I can stand between the trusses when up there and don't have to be hunched over. As far as foundation prep, lots of compacted crushed stone.

Framed in the loft this past weekend with 2x6,s and left a opening for a 42" insulated steel door which I had already cut down. I need to decide on a wall covering so I can start mounting electric boxes. Metal wall liner sounds nice but might dent up easily, but nice for water as I do want to wash cars in there, and pre painted. Plus I would need to fir the walls out to mount panels. I have a sample pcs of smart Panel, soaked it in water it swelled right up and when dryed never went back to original thickness, not overly impressed. Hardi Plank sample did soak up water but never swelled up, but is expensive :headscrat How about regular T1-11 painted, should hold up to abuse and should last indoors. Any thoughts would be great, I know wall covering are debated quite a bit on here.

Slow progress, installed subpanels in the house and garage, now have power in the garage  Installing the outlet boxes and planning for the lights. This part I hate becuase I always think I forgot something or could have been layed out better.

Rough wiring is complete, decided on 20 (48" 2 bulb T-8 fixtures) 12 in the bays parallel to cars and 8 fixtures in shop area. I hope I coverd everything for wiring. Attic door is installed, I thing it will work fine.

Glad to see someone else with slow progress like me! Your place is looking great though. Like you, I've been adding to my electrical layout right up until I have everything covered with wall board. I just hope I don't think of anything else I can't live without. It's definitely easier to make changes and additions in the stage you are now....Looks like you have a good game plan. Keep up the good work!

Had a two month break getting caught up on the house and yard work, time to start the soffits, I used metal and a little disapointed in the look.

Worked on the south side this weekend, pre-cut lengths worked very well again. Work went into slow motion doing the upper level cutting along the gable end. Dosen't help working alone either, I have to congradulate those on this site who have done a lot of the work themselves.

Looking for votes on siding for the north side (side with entry door and window). Steel or cedar, cedar will also go sbove the stone. Problem I'am having is as you pull up to the house you primarily see this side and the front. Initially I wanted the garage to be totally maintenance free as I have the house to worry about. Thanks

as good as the metal siding looks, I would continue with that. Can't beat maintenance free.

I would do it all in metal. Would look better IMO. I think another type of siding wouldn't look all that great.

What a great looking car palace.

Yea, but no car to put in it. The stone is a fake veneer. Also finished the cedar today, just needs two more coats of stain

All home centers should be able to get it or a contractor supply house thats where I purchased mine. As for installation" Google "cultured stone and most companies will have instructions and video's. The one I used is made by Boral who bought out Owens Corning. Overall it wasn't hard just very time consuming.

Slow progress lately, poured the front sidewalk, installed some drainage pipe, and seeded the front and back.
