Sorry I'm late to the party. But I brought some hot Pizza and put them over on the tool box. Can I stay?

Paul, I was amazed at the first photos of the Big Shop and couldn't believe the 13 garage doors. Wow! :eyecrazy: Then you posted the rest of the farm and there were at least 8 more garage doors. :willy_nil. And then more tools than an average shop has!

But what lead me to your magnificent place was your mention of your Batmobile.:bow::bow:
... Batmobile has always been my favorite car in the world!
You and me both, but all I can do is dream about it. You are so fortunate to be living your dream as well as those of many, many others. I keep seeing them for sale and the Mrs. says No, Not now. Still have to get the twins through college. (Maybe someday)

You mentioned that you built yours. Did you start with a Mark Towel kit or similar? I've seen the kits and have tried to explain to the Mrs how reasonable they are in kit form, but still no sale. There is one attempt in our town, but it still has the back seat and 4 doors. Just doesn't cut it. Congrats on building such a beautiful bat! If you have any build pix, can you throw up sometime.

And I can't help but wonder if there is anything else hiding out back somewhere? Like a P-51 Mustang in your other hangar on your grass strip? (OK, I guess that is another one of my dreams) After all, it took 72 posts before you revealed the 1966 Gotham Cruiser!

Re: Doors for storage racks, labels and such, organizing same...

Amazzen,

I don't know if you've seen GJ member Keep's thread titled "Home Inventory Database - Release", but he built a 'run-time' MS Access database and generously offered it to the GJ family free of charge; very nice of him to do so! Considering the size of the walled-estate you so casually call your "Family Back Yard Garage", and considering the depth and breadth of your toys, tools, and treasures, I would humbly suggest you need to implement Keep's code just to 'Keep' (pun) track of everything!

Now, when you have populated your DB with photos of everything hiding in your collection of cabinets (yes, you do have a 'thing' going for cabinets, lol), your shelves, your nooks and crannies, your attics , your sheds, and even your dungeon (I suspect you have one on the estate somewhere), you can then publish the results on GJ and we here will be eternally grateful to then really know what 'tool heaven' must be like! :lol_hitti

P.S. - And please don't forget to document the entire contents of the Bat Cave hidden on your property! You have one, doncha? I betcha do!

I'm with you on that one. There has to be a Bat Cave there somewhere!

Haha I was TOTALLY thinking that same thing.

"So when is this guy gonna pull out the cave on us?"

:)

VERY nice build. Nice collection as well! What is your one favorite thing out of all of it?

when you have time it would be nice to see your memorabilia showroom, i caught a glimpse of a big boy statue beside your phone booth, reminds me of the time my girlfriend caught me bidding on an 8' big boy out of california on ebay, i thought it would be cool as a lawn ornament, she didn't!! i didn't get it:sad:

Yes, that's a BB statue, but its only about 6" tall. I'm going to eventually put it on a revolving contraption, but waaaay down on the project list, LOL.
I'll be working on your request, soon.

Word on the street is that it's not gay, as long as you punch them after...

Thanks Wingnut, I started with a "Bob Johnson" body (South Florida). Other decent kits are now available for about $6K, but count on spending at least 40K by the time you're done. I'll look into a new thread to post some build pics as suggested. If anyone is interested, its on the 1966batmobile.com website. And just to make you feel better, I didn't start this build until my kids were through College as well.

There's a bit more to reveal, but nothing crazy like a plane, hanger or landing strip, LOL.

Thank you.

My favorite thing of all would be the Batcave.....JUST KIDDING.

I don't really have a favorite "thing".....let me explain this way:

People ask me what my favorite car is.... my answer is ..."the one I'm working on"!

Does that make any sense?

This garage just made my list of things to see before I die!

Great for you that you can spend time with family in such a place. I wish I could spend time like that with my dad!

Thanks for sharing!

We painted my latest project today!

006abk.jpg

I was fortunate enough to by my first new car in 1976 and having grown up with my Dad's garage and body shop, I hopped it up a bit in 1977. Here's a picture of the car in the summer of 77...

2 years ago I found a good donor 76 Camaro to recreate my car as it was in 1977. I started the project this past fall and should be complete this spring.

I'm also planning to drive my car to same location of the 1977 photograph and take new "deja vu" pics!

Who says you can't go back. :drunk:

Paul, That Camero looks great. I see you decided to throw the stripes back on. And that clear coat really will make that paint stand out. Nice work.

And those sliding doors really make a difference in the shop. It's nice that the materials match the rest of the walls. Is it the same as what is on the ceiling?

Water 8ft down, you say? You might have to settle for Aquaman's City of Atlantis down there! :) But that won't be nearly as cool, would it.

This thread just kicked me square in the sack. Please tell me you have an on-site whiskey distillery, too.

Thanks boys, sorry for the lack of updates but I'm dealing with some health issues which as you know, take priority over the day to day stuff.

Still working on the Camaro when I can steal a moment here and there...

I agree. great place with a lot of thought and determination. Thats the part that wins here, personally you wouldn't have to fight me for the stuff, for the most part would get rid of what I got if I could afford to, ha My jealousy factor is low, main reason is I know how much work it is. Lots of people think it comes for free.

Building on right is 30 x 60 storage shop.

One in back is the main shop again.

Above is a 40 x 80 storage shop (houses my future resto projects)

and below is our covered Arena! (64 x 120)

. . .ok, I have 169sq. feet of "Shop". That means you could fit 82.60 of my shops in your space. I didn't count the arena.

Oh, by the way, I also have a Zamboni to get the right surfacing between play.

Having your own ice rink, while it is an great structure, is not something I have ever thought of nor lusted after. The weather conditions require it be cold enough for ice. Just not for me, my blood is way too thin.

Of course you could always install a compressor and have aritificial ice.
