Since I can't find Alaska in a search in the flooring section I figured it was time to quit lurking and start posting. This summer my 5 year old garage is going to finally get the attention it so desperately needs. So I will stick with the floor on this posting. Has anyone else in Alaska done their floor? So far all I have found is the “generic” kits being sold at Lowes and Home Depot. They use calcium chloride mixed with sand up here in the winter on our roads. I need something that will stand up to that. Anyone with similar weather want to chime in with experiences with stain vs. a paint system please do.

We just provided a huge amount of materials to a bush pilot in Ketchikan, AK. He found us on this board, maybe he will write in.

In central Maine and north maybe the whole state that is what they use on our roads as well, i will be watching this post to see what others use in their garage floors to stand up to calcium chloride.

Mike:
Top-coating your epoxy with a quality urethane will be plenty of protection against calcium chloride or sodium chloride.

Our products are used throughout Canada and AK with no ill effects.

Our hangar in Soldotna has an epoxy floor. Not sure who did it but they did an excellent job.
