Hi everybody, I am new to the forum - this is my first post. Apologize if there is another thread for this and poor picture quality. I picked up an old snap on box, but there is no model or date code anywhere. The box weighs alot and is very high quality. I am trying to get an idea of its age. I think its from the early 50s based upon some research and the snap on logo. I believe it is some variation of the KRD-21. (see link: http://www.collectingsnapon.com/catalogs/catalogs.php?loggedin=0&catalogPage=1402 ). Then again, I have no idea, could be the 40's, could be the 70s, who knows! If anybody is familiar with the box's history, I would appreciate it.
Also, when I got the box, it was in rough shape, neglected, dented, rusty. I have stripped most of the paint down and sanded with 320 and 400 paper. I purchase Rustoleum self-etching primer, which I have not applied. I have seen advice as how to paint the boxes on the forum, but any advice on approach would be appreciated. I am thinking of 2 options based on my budget: snap on touch up spray paint (20 bucks a can) or mix some paint for a cheap air-gun from HF. I don't have a spray booth - any ideas how to paint without getting hair/dust/dirt in the paint? Any advice would be awesome and appreciated.
