Do you really need one? I have two small ceiling fans in my garage. One is a small industrial type fan from Menards..........probably 60" or so, and the other one is a standard house ceiling 54" fan. My garage is 1150 sq ft, and these two small fans make as much wind as you can want in the garage.

Ryan started a thread on these fans a while back........................

THIS is a link to the thread.

In addition, there was a discussion on the Home Depot 60" industrial three blade fan, which comes in white, and apparently also in a brushed steel and black (though I've never seen anything other than white in the store)

White is Model # 92856 (was and still marked as 526 012)
Black is Model # 26629
Brushed steel (online only) is Model # 26619

All show as $89.97. At one time they seemed to be discontinuing them, some stores no longer carry them, but one local store seems to keep restocking them. I bought one (still in the box, haven't used it yet) from a store that was ceasing to stock it, paid $54, but they keep creeping up in price. Last time I looked in the store they were $82, but were $79 not long before that, now $89 online. Still a good deal for what they do.

THIS is the link to the HD fan thread

We have several BAF at work in the "stores" area (airline maintenance base) they had them running the other day when I was back there. Look to be about 12 ft or slightly more. Move alot of air, but move alot of your money too.

We have one in the hangar at work. It is huge and beautiful but we never use it on anything higher than medium, the blades are former rotor blades. definately expensive though.

I'm VERY HAPPY with my 36 inch Daton whole house exaust fan from Grainger. If you work for a company that deals with them, you can get a wholesale price, with next day shipping for Free!

I had just gotten a quote on a fan. Expect to pay around $3500. They look to be extremely well built and are supposed to be electrically efficient.

My company rented a warehouse that had one. Tip to tip, probably 30' friggin huge!

Really moved some air. The guys in shipping/receiving liked it and hated it. The fan was constantly blowing paperwork off their work stations

Customer of mine has four of them in their fleet shop. I have never seen all four running at the same time. Customer says lightning keeps taking out ctrl boards in them and they are expensive to replace. I am not sure if this is a problem with his wiring or just that the boards are very susceptible to power spikes?

They do move a lot of air though.

Think I'll just keep getting by with my little *** fans.

The old shipping/receiving guy in me sees a potential Styrofoam peanut tornado prank there.

BAF designs and manufactures the fans from scratch in their facilities. The blades might LOOK like rotor blades, but they are not.

Actually, the largest BAF is 24 ft in the industrial series, and 20 ft in the commercial series.

Menards has an 8' fan for $799.

Interesting...................

96 inch Hunter industrial fan

Specs are a little strange, seems it flows more air with three blades than with all six.

Fan specs

"CFM on High: 6 Blades-11,245, 3 Blades-11,899"

Of course, I can buy and install (conduit and all) a half dozen or so of the 60" fans like I have for the price of one of these, but still, its interesting...... Wonder if it would fit in my greatroom?

I think like everyone had suggested a place like Grainger might be the best and easiest place to get something. Where I work we have bit over 30 of the 24' BAF and been running for 6 years with very few problems but when you do have a problem they are pricy to fix. Just the other day one even tool a pigeon strike with no damage at all.

I installed a couple of the 24' ones a couple years ago, and by installed, I mean did the electrical, they spec having surge protection, but most installs are done by people in the shop and not contracted out so they never install proper surge protection.

With both fan running high it reminded me of being in rotor wash of a helicopter. amazing how much air they move. Although the first 20 minutes was a dust storm as all the dust from the nooks and corners got picked up.

Put surge protection on mine during installation even though it did not call for it.
