what are the 'bumps' towards the edge of the roof?

:hellobye: Ooohh, oohhh, I can answer that one. Those "bumps" are to stop ice from sliding off of the metal roof. If you look at any commercial building that has real winters with snow and ice, you will see them above the entry ways of the buildings.

Are those fishing bobbers hanging on the side of the building? If they are, are they something common for say, the Great Lakes, or something else a little more rare? They do make a nice display.

Kevin,

The previous owner made them. I think they might have mimicked lobster pot markers, but an not totally sure.

The garage is 24'X48' with a tall ceiling and a full second floor. It has a wide staircase that takes up some room, but I feel I could get 5 cars in there on the concrete. Likely a 6th if I had a lift. The T-bird needs company, but I shot my wad on the home. :) I'm not sure yet how I want to lay things out.

The house has an additional 2 car attached. That's now the Mrs. and I don't even go in there. :)

Jim,

Thanks for the compliment on the Thunderbird. I love driving it and it does show pretty well.

Greetings, pops.

Always good to see a picture of a classic baby-bird by a fellow owner. Your property looks to be well landscaped and a very nice setting. Congratulations on your buy.

Just wondering too, if you are active with your local T-Bird club? We have a pretty active group in my area, which is named the Puget Sound Early Birds. Great people and equally great cars.

Looking forward to learning more about your garage and what other cars that might grace your new home.

Take care.

Ody.

Hi Ody,

The landscaping was all done by the previous owners. I suspect I can all but ruin it within a years time. :) The home is a little offbeat (As am I) that is what I liked about it. It has a nautical theme that for some reason was a draw to me. You can see some more photos of it at http://www.clayt.com (Look at diversion 6)

I have not yet looked for other bird owners locally. I hope to as soon as I knock out about 50 more "honey do's." I do look forward to some of the camaraderie that stems from knowing others that share the same interest.
I have learned that I'm within easy driving distance to CASCO and Summit is very close to where I live. I'm lucky though. My car is done. I'm now in the maintaining stage.

Pops! The Donna Marie is beautiful as is the barge with the cranes. Oh, and the tower crane. Very cool builds.

BTW, the new home looks wonderful.

Looking forward to seeing more of your creations.

My best,

Ody.

PS: Sorry to read about your camera. New one looks like it will do the trick, certainly based on some of the shots you took. Very nice.

Ody,

Thank you for your kind words. And, thank you too for taking the time to review some of my interests. Because my skill level never rises above mediocrity, I tend to spread it over multiple venues. :)

Again, thank you.

Thanks for your interest. I eat, sleep, and breathe garages, therefore, I was amazed to see that a forum site existed about garages.
It is nice to see all the different interests and styles that poeple have. All of the garages that I have seen so far are great, big or small. I started an album with more pictures of the garage on my profile page.

What great pics on your album. May I ask are you planning to repaint the antique wrecker to match your station? It would be over the top.

Pops, I have found my dream website. My wife can blame you now for the hours I will be on the site reviewing your work. I was stationed on the CGC Rodger B Taney when it decommissioned in 1985. It was 50 years old at that time and was the last active duty ship which saw action in Pearl Harbour, it was actually in Honolulu Harbour but saw the action. I may have to seriously think of making a model of it now. Thanks for sharing your work.

You can see some more photos of it at http://www.clayt.com (Look at diversion 6)

Glad you liked the site Nighttrain, and that I can take a little heat for some of your extra curicular activities. :)

I like to have fun with the site and sometimes refer back to the photos myself just to rmember what the hell I was doing to begin with.

I looked up the Taney and she would make a fine looking model for sure. Looks like Revell makes or made one, or one could scratch build one with plans.

One old guy's slice of heaven. A 2 story with "A" frame styling on an acre of woods. The ink is still drying and a lot of work to clean it out.

+1! Now, I think you have to agree that "Pops" has some serious talent. I was thrilled at all the projects (Diversions as Pops calls them) and was thoroughly intrigued with all that he shared on his site. Personally, I would love to see more!

More like a workshop than a garage, I can only dream right now I can build me a bigger garage one day. The wood is off of a barn that was built in 1901, the doors used to be one big door and it was two feet taller. The 2*8 beams were 29 feet long and we had access to this place for three years. Had a lot of fun, O and the overhangs are 63 caddy hoods.

loveto see inside

Pops......I am totally amazed and almost speechless. When you said your house was a little different, I took a look at it and was in awe. I'd just hate to be the one to roof it though. Then I decided to go to your website and take a look around. I've killed about two hours on there. Simply AMAZING  The work that you do is fantastic and words just don't describe it. If I may ask though, where does one get plans to build projects like that? The blueprint you had of the Bannon had to be 10' long. Do you just start making things to scale from the picture, or do you have dimensioned prints also?

And for the ones that haven't been to Pops site, I very highly recommend it. Just make sure you have some time to kill.:thumbup:

Does anyone on here have a double attached garage that they have expanded into a double deep 4 space garage. Our house is rectangular with truss roof and has side entry garage with double door. We may want to expand the 20 x 20 to 20 x 38 or 20 x40. We did add a 18 x 26 sunroom onto the other end of the house.

Any ideas, pics or plans to share?

Thanks

Re: My Sanctuary....

Here is mine. It was built three years ago to echo the style of our 1790 Federal style home. We had to work within restrictions related to size, proximity to the property line, and pay careful attention to style, because our house is on the National Register of Historic Places.

I had to do a double take when I saw this picture. I have an architect bookmarked because of a similar "outbuilding" he did.
