Best price Racedeck vs Motofloor vs Garage Deck?

I am currently purchasing a new home, first thing I want to do when I get the keys is put down some garage flooring, I hate the concrete look.

I have been looking at Racedeck, seems to be the favorite of the board, but why? how does it compare to Motofloor or Garage Deck?

Only reason I ask, is its a decent size savings to go with Moto Floor or Garage deck. I have yet to see Racedeck for under $3.50 a foot, (my new garage is 360 sq ft) and Moto Floor is on sale at costco for 2.08 sq ft and Garage deck is 1.98 sq ft.

Where is the best place to purchase? I live in Salt Lake City, which is I think where all of this stuff is made, so maybe someplace can cut a deal for a local?

Anyone know?

thanks.

Contact Race Deck directly. Garage Journal members enjoy a discount price.

+1 Very happy with my racedeck floor, and I know they will still be there if I need to replace a tile down the line. Costco did not offer the colors I wanted on my floor and the GJ discount on racedeck made it really a no brainer.

Is there any problems moving a four post car lift from place to place on race track flooring? Or a very heavy tool box? Will the wheels indent in the flooring?

I have several 4 post lifts and we move them around often with no issue, the casters are usually very large . Heavy toolboxes should be of no issue either as most have 4-6" casters as well.

I am on the fence with the Racedeck. I have Harleys an I am afraid the kickstands will gouge the tiles and I also have a bike lift and do not know what would happen with the weight of that. It has leveling legs and I think it would ruin it.
Also, what would happen if moisture gets under the tiles? Will it eventually dry out?

You can always use a puck under the kickstand, it's not like we aren't used to it at some places. A very minor inconvenience for a nice look.

You can put runners under the length of both side if the wheels are small. If they are larger wheels I don't think there would be any problem.

Also, what would happen if moisture gets under the tiles? Will it eventually dry out?

If you look at the bottom, the tiles are designed so there is plenty of air flow underneath and water will still flow across any floor with a pitch or dry out easily.

Is RaceDeck non-combustible?

Reading the VCT thread, the manufacturer don't recommend VCT for garage floors since some building codes require garage floors to be non-combustible material.

Yea if your choice is epoxy or racedek. Go with racedek. Plus the support that they provide here is second to none. They even replace peoples damaged tiles.

I got samples of racedeck and garagedeck. ended up going with porcelain PEI 5 tile from home depot. USA tile for $1.64 a sq ft in "granite color" in 3 weeks I have done things on it that I know would mark up a plastic tile. Drug things, dropped things, not a mark. If you are planning on staying in the house for awhile I would consider it. Couldn't be happier with my decision!

I can't say enough about my RaceDeck FreeFlow...love the product.

Don't go pounding on it with a 5lb sledge and screwdriver (whoops), but very durable. Get tons of compliments.

The best thing about it, is the light reflection. I have graphite perimeter with alloy center, and it reflects the overhead light fantastic.

Pics?

That is my main complaint about any of these tiling systems, they don't reflect like a glossy epoxy.

They won't reflect like a glossy epoxy, thats comparing apples to oranges.

However, they reflect significantly better than bare concrete...which is none at all.

I have a 20x20 garage with 10ft ceilings, with (8) 3200 lumen, 4000 kelvin LED's. The first time I close the garage door and turn on the lights with guests...they squint.

I don't understand the thinking in this. By saying "best price" I take that to mean "cheapest price" and that is where I get confused. Presumably, you want something on the floor that will last a VERY long time, but you don't want to pay very much for it.

Generally speaking, cheap products and longevity don't go hand in hand. If you want a high quality product with longevity, you should expect to pay more for it. I can understand shopping around to get the best price on a particular product, but shopping around between several different products to find the cheapest one, that is the part I just don't understand, UNLESS I am just putting something down on the floor because I am selling the place and I am hoping to get a quick sale.
