Yeah, what's the status? All this mild weather is proving messy, but I'm sure you have developed some strategies for dealing with it. Care to share?

You know - I'm not really sure there is much that can be done besides putting in the time & effort to clean.

My 850 rarely moves in the winter, especially when the roads are wet & filled with gravel. So that helps tremendously, though only on one side of the garage.

The wife's Lancer is in/out frequently, so it brings in a good deal of snow, dirt, gravel, during the winter months. I have large floor squeegee for when I do wash the epoxy floor - which helps a great deal. I usually just get a bucket of hot water, mop, and squeegee it all out of the garage.

That said - provided you can be so diligent, knocking the built up snow out of your wheel wells with a snow-brush before you enter the garage can make a huge difference I've found.

Pretty much same as what I do. Do you find the driveway gets quite dirty with the mud being squeegee'd out of the garage? I hate it. I always end up having to power wash the entire driveway, which I like to do, but in the winter there's not many opportunites.

Is it staying nice and warm despite no heater?

Hey Brizz, just thought I would take a stroll through your thread to see if anything was new in your world. It's been almost a year to the day since you last updated. How has the garage performed in the past year or so? Any changes or updates?

Nothing like a reply ~5.5 years later! :)

There weren't many changes a year later, nor ~5.5 years later now. Two kids have shown up in my house since the Garage was finished - so my time has shifted towards those 'projects'. I haven't slept in 4 years! I'm glad I was able to complete all the garage work that I did... because all the junk started to show up and there was mostly enough storage space for it. I have considered some hanging ceiling storage and will soon need something for bikes once those start to increase in size. My garage has been relegated to look like your average suburban home in terms of tidiness right now... so I'll need to get creative this summer in re-organizing things. Amazing how two kids will demand so much time from you that you can't keep things tidy. Spring cleaning of the garage was always last on the list of things to get done.

It looks like you've been busy (RE: "Rad Garage.") It's looking great! I'm jealous of all the detailing equipment you have. I'll need to push the BMW 850 over to your house for a day or two for some much needed attention :)

I came back to these circles as I was considering putting a lift into my garage. With the kids came an additional vehicle and the 850 selfishly keeps a spot in the garage while the new baby-hauler lives outside. It would be ideal to have all vehicles inside... especially after the February cold snap we had this year. I've started independent consulting for my IT work and the wife is also back to work now. While there is no shortage of expenses... I'm already starting to think of ways to spend the additional income. Bad, I know!

That said... I think I am in a pickle though. My garage has a bump out on the ceiling right where the garage door comes up. So that part of the ceiling is very low, whereas the rest seems to be 11+ feet in height. It looks like yours is the same and I believe there is a structural beam there for the bonus room floor above. That doesn't help to have the garage door high mounted to avoid contact with a car on a lift. I was able to add width to my garage, but unfortunately not any length. We extended our kitchen dining area by a couple feet which didn't allow us to extend the garage any further in length. I haven't taken any detailed measurements in the garage - I just know it would be impossible as-is, or would be a miracle to have things fit as-is. Had I not added the cabinetry - I think it would be more feasible.

So, after 5.5 years of me hitting my refresh button, I finally get a response! LOL

Great to hear from you! Congrats on the new arrivals. I can relate to what you have been going through, mind you I only have one rug rat! The garage can quickly become overwhelmed with kid stuff. Maybe it is time to look at getting a new home with 3-car garage!

Putting a lift in your garage will be hard with that beam, which I have too. Eventhough we have the high ceilings, the door limits you big time. There is always the "car condo" idea. I know they have a facility in Springbank! Maybe all that extra income could be put to good use. I would love to have you bring the 850 by for a "consult" at some time. Then again, I'm a huge deal now so I'd have to try to find a time to pencil you in....

Good hearing from you. Reach out this summer.

I've added some tire racks and a ceiling hoist on Father's Day. :)

With the height of my ceiling, I didn't want to be lugging up that kind of weight over my shoulder up a ladder.
