the garage really was a lot of work and thinking but it is so nice to work in there that it was all worth it.

Still thinking to see if i get more machines and tools in there or keep it simple, still debating. Lots of things i had not thought of are now coming in the garage and i lack the space and mostly, i want to keep it clean.

Also, the nice thing about having a clean garage is that you can do parties in it, nice shade and it is so well insulated that it is much more fresh inside than outside and obviously we are not talking about the rain if the sky looks bad. With the racedeck, it is easier to clean the floor.

My thoughts exactly, love your place, very clean

Very nice and well planned garage. Could you post a picture if the stairs fully extended and in position? I have never seen stairs done that way before. Looks like a lot of space saved.

I see the 2 garage doors tracks disappear into the ceiling.
Would you please post some pics of how you did that?
I love the indirect lighting all around the ceiling.

I'm in love with your lighting system. Can I ask what type of lights these are? They seem nice and bright.

The whole garage is just epic.

lights are just regular neon type you can find in your local hardware store, there are some small T8 neon in them.

Are all the trucks like that up in Canada? Down here in the States. I've never saw a truck that has four turning wheels. What's the purpose other than to keep from tearing up the ground? I can't see where they would turn any shorter than a standard truck, unless the wheels cut tighter than a standard truck. Just about all of ours is one long frame, tandem axles in rear, and one set of wheels up front, but those are unique looking.

I thought I commented on the garage but I guess I didn't. I LOVE IT!!!! What is the smaller roll up for on the side? Yard tools and lawn tractor? And what size is the side roll up?

I really like the looks of the garage and everything about it and I like the idea of having a built in shed. I'd like to add on to my garage and I think that is a great idea.

it's not even a roller, it's a regular type garage door but it's 5 feet wide and 6 feet high. Yeah i keep all the lawn and kid's toys in there.

As far as the trucks, no clue, i also thought it was funny when i saw it, they are not all like that here, this one is pretty unique. Kind of weird though that both trucks came with the same wheel pattern, pure luck.

Love your garage layout. I might have to steal the storage room idea.

I didn't see it mentioned, but did you buy the garage as some sort of modular kit? I noticed you have all your walls built before the foundation was done.

i built the modular panel myself like you say. I wanted to start building even though the slab wasn't poured yet. Built the walls i needed but left the last one on each side to be built when the other were installed to be sure i get the exact measurment. If you browse through the pics, you will see how i installed the pre-made walls in place

Love the setup. You have good taste and do good work. I really dig the lighting setup as well.

Beautiful and functional garage. You incorporated some cool ideas and I might as well admit it - I'm just gonna steal a couple of em. Great job!

I am still curious about your stairs. Exactly what do they look like when they are fully extended?

check out post #12 and 13, you can see them there, they are exactly the same except that now they have some insulation and drywall underneat.

I have to admit i have stolen some ideas too on the website. There was a dream garage thread floating on a couple of forums for a while with those multi-millions dollars types of garage, that is where i got the idea for the garage door hiding.

I can't remember where i got the idea for the angled neons but i beleive that was me because i wanted to keep the ceiling clean and not have all those ugly fixtures on the ceiling. Also, i wanted to get some ights when working in the wheel well of a car which you don't have when the light is coming from above. I was afraid i wouldn't have enough ligthing but it is perfect, maybe the light color walls helps too. This is the point i was the most worried about and it is the point where i nailed it the best. If i had put the same amount of lighting on the ceiling, i don't think it would have been as bright.

Not to be a pest, but I have looked at all the pictures and do not see one with the stairs on rollers in position to step on them? Do they roll out against the back wall or against the landing the upper stairs sit on. It is a very unique stair configuration that I would like to use, I just don't want to assume the position of the bottom steps.

Thank you, I missed that! Guess I was looking at the control box.

Beautiful garage, I am going to install a "lawnmower garage" just like yours. Love the storage space it gives you.

Been through the whole thread a few times  just to see the cool "dis-appearing" garage doors . . . . Way Cool . . . tricks the eye just to look at how that works!! Curious if there is access somehow to get to openers or the springs if you have equipment failures?

Also curious what are the 2 round white things on ceiling next to the heater by the garage doors?

Looks like you have 2 of those ceiling mounted 5,000 watt electric heaters . . . they really do the job in Canada??

On exterior top of roof, you have a real chimney or is that cosmetic . . . or just a vent for heat to escape (ie since all you have are electric heaters in garage)??

Still would like couple pics of whole ladder situation. So the fiberglass covered wood over by bench is on pulley-system so you can get to tires stored on top of "toy/lawnmower" shed space in corner?? Then, you have a normal drop-down attic ladder . . please show pic with it down?

Overall, FABULOUS garage with great lighting at edges that appears to be natural light, to go along with other natural light that comes in. For the money, best garage design I've seen and hope to copy some of these tricks with my own some day.

I have acess to the spring, actually you can see them with the door down as the hiding of the door doesn't go all the way over the door or the door wouldn't be able to enter. If you check carefully in the pics, you can see the 2 liftmaster 3800 shaft engine and i made a box over it which holds with 6 screws so very easy to go work on the motors.

not to sure of what you are talking about the 2 round things but i would guess you mean the lights for the door openers? Usually the lights are on the door opener but i have shaft motors so it has remote lighting. I guess this is what you are talking about, if not, le me know in which pic exactly.

I have two of those heater, one would have been enough because the garage is very well insulated. I wasn't planning to heat up the garage all winter so i wanted some quick heat to warm it up when needed. I have always kept the temp at around 50F in winter because i always had some projects going on so one would have been enough. Insulation is the key and it works way better than those regular orange 4800 watt heater. I have one and i don't even know where it is anymore, it is now useless.

The black thing is just the vent for the roof. Here in Quebec everyone put these types of vent, best one the market and pretty inexpensive. I beleive the type of continuous vent on the top of the roof, along the edge is better but with the snow here, it would not work. Here people don't call it a vent, they call it a Maximum just to show you how this is the only thing that is used around. http://www.ventilation-maximum.com/English/product-model301.html

I will try to take some pics with the ladders down. The reason the fiberglass stairs are on a pulley is that i need to remove them to have access to the small door. I put my heavy equipement in there like ****** jack and engine hoist. It ended up having a second fucntion as i can have my kid playing around without being concerned about them breaking their neck climbing and falling. When i see they start playing in the stairs, i just put them at the vertical position. And they like to play with the mystery small door too ;)

Yep, "round things" by the heater on ceiling must be the two remote mounts of garage door opener lights. Those are cool shaped!! Without the vibration like normal garage door openers, those will last forever with a CFL bulb.

I read the info on Maximum roof vent and just that one unit can replace 2 or 3 rotary-style vents!! I'll have to check those out when I re-roof as I hate the spinning kind. Yours looks much better and apparently doesn't allow any water or snow infiltration.

Also was curious what you've got invested in the scissor-style lift? What capacity have you lifted and feel comfortable under?

Thanks for sharing your Wonderful Garage with everyone here on GJ.

I don't how spread those Maximum vents are around the country as they are built locally here in Quebec but i feel they are so much suprerior to anything else on the market and looks much better as you said.

For the lift, i have lifted a 2009 F150, i wouldn't go over that. I do mostly small cars and race cars.

All in all, i must be at around 4000 for the lift but this is including around 400$ of concrete and different stuff plus the longer hoses i had to get custom made (200$) All fees i could have avoided if i had planned to get one when i built the garage. Also, paper works and customs cost a lot here in Canada and i didn't feel like working for it so i paid someone to do the paperwork and had the lift delivered to my door.

I start building my garage in two weeks. It is going to have a lawnmower garage just like yours. Thank you for the idea.
