You don't fucken use them by the looks of your hammer. I have that same hammer and it lost its paint in about 6 hours of light use.

Wow, did you get up on the wrong side of the bed today?
I have a bunch of hammers that I use with my punches. I keep that hammer in the drawer to make sure that I also have one handy and it doesn't see much use.
Yep, at a buck a piece it's hard to keep from buying more...
Actually after reading all the posts my apologies to everyone. i just reread my post and I look like a real ********. One thing I do like about the Internet no one is scared to tell you. I am sorry if my post had offended anyone.

I really like the strategy this thread has made me aware of. I have been doing this without realizing it, but I purchased my first SET of SO punches about 6 years ago. I have just slowly been adding to the original set when I find them for reasonable prices. Punches and chisels are one thing that you can save a ton of money on by buying good quality lightly used individuals instead of sets.
Files are another biggie... you can find whole tables full of them at swap meets, sometimes in new or near new condition.

I have a decent amount of punches in the drawer. Some Dasco, some from Harry Epstein, and some older ones from garage sales. I just bought a 1/16 roll pin punch from Epstein's that I will use for taking apart locks.

Dasco ? I bought one while back first time i ever even heard of them. Lol. My dad gave me a old keen cutter punch. Wonder if its any good ??
