My name is Chuck from the Piedmont area of NC. I recently retired and now have time to fix up my work areas in the garage and basement so I can undertake a number of projects I've been wanting to do. Right now I'm throwing out the junk accumulated over the years to make space for my tools and working area. In addition to cars to tinker with I've got an Airstream trailer which seems to have a number of potential improvements to consume my time when dear wife and I aren't out traveling around the USA. I'm also closely watching Craig's list searching for a few large power tools to complete my woodworking shop (drill press, planer, jointer, dust collection system).
I found this board through a search engine when seeking information about restoring old metal toolboxes. My grandfather was a mechanic who operated his own garage in the country until he died in the early 1960's. My father acquired his tools and tool chest but unfortunately did not care for them well so they are rusted. I'd like to restore them as much as possible so I've been looking at what other people are doing and taking advantage their experience. I have a specific question regarding the disassembly of the toolbox which I'll cover in another post.
In perusing this site I've been impressed with the garages people have created as well as some of the projects they've undertaken. I look forward to learning more and seeing more as well as getting some good advice.
