I am in the process of getting an ARO 1 ton air hoist operating in my shop and needed to get some lubricating oil for it.IR recommends #29665 oil for all their hoists.$62.62 for 3 qts. shipped through KSC Direct!:shocking: I did a search thru google and pulled up the MSDS on this product.Turns out that it is Shell Tellus 32 hydraulic oil.Further searching found Mobil DTE24 is a replacement.Bought 3 Qts. shipped at Drillspot.com for $13.90 total!:bounce: Sometimes a little research pays off...hope this helps someone else out!

Yes they can be handy for that ,I went through the same situation with oil for a vacumn pump, the dealer wanted over 100.00 per qt for his special oil the MSDS sheet led to a replacement that was much less expensive.

Back in the days before MSDSs when I was a teen I worked in a green house and was required to use a product from Monsanto to kill insects and spiders in the plants we sent out to retail stores. The chemical was called Temik. So I decided to read the caution label at some point. It said to use this product you needed to attend a training course (never did that), wear eye and respiratory equipment (never did that either), and completely wash up after use (I think I did do that). It went on to say that if you consume this product you will die and to call a mortician, not the poison control center!

I stopped doing that part of the job and my boss was okay with it after I showed him the label...

Here is something I just found on another website about Temik: "One teaspoon is enough to kill a grown rhino and a mere 1mg can kill a rodent weighing less than a kilogram – this substance is more poisonous than arsenic..."

It is a wonder I am still alive and my kids don't have three heads!

Ha. Reminds me of my Grandfather. He's been a farmer his whole life. I asked him about DDT one time. His response: "Oh, DDT that's the tame stuff". Apparently he used to spray a lead arsenic mixture without any safety gear at all. Reaching into the tank up to his shoulder to use has hand as a mixter, coming back soaking wet from the spray, etc. Back in the old days, picking up all of the dead birds, squirls, etc was part of the cleanup job after spraying.

Reminds me of my grandpa who never wore a mask for all his spraying on farm. Think we used some 2-4-D back in the day. Somehow he lived to upper 70's while also hand rolling his loose tobacco cigarettes!!

Another old farmer tool he had was a UV (ultra violet) light that was used on skin conditions like poison ivy, oak, etc. Was a small suitcase-size box that opened up and light was turned on to shine on body part with problem. Got some poison ivy one summer while staying on farm and the UV light cleared it right up!
