I have a 4x4 4l60e auto trans out of a 95' blazer I am parting out. The trans needs a rebuild. What should I do with it? I already called 6 local trans shops and none of them want it. I could scrap it after removing the transfer case or just hold onto it and maybe someday someone will buy it. I have already drained all the fluid and I'll probably disassemble it and then scrap it unless someone here wants it. Is their anyone in CNJ who buys 'core' transmissions? I'd like to get $75 for it without the transfer case.

Definitely CL. Thats not a super pupular ****** with all the other "better" offerings from GM so most guys just swap in a different/beefier ****** when the 4L60 takes a ****.

Actually a 4l60 700r4 is one of the most popular trannys out there and can be built stout very reasonable i have rebuilt quite a few, however yours behind a V6 is not the same as one that came behind a 350 its built to lower HP levels and would require more upgrades than its worth. you can get any version of this trans for about $50 at the swap meets i got 2 sitting on the shelf.

^^ A 4L60E is just an updated, electronically controlled version of the earlier 700R4 transmissions... There are some internal differences, but they do have interchangeable parts

from reading your other posts on here Im have a feeling you're still having "lack of $$$" issues.... I say scrap it. Sure you'd get more money if you found the "right" buyer... at the end of the day its just not worth your time. I got an old manual trans Ive been trying to sell for the last couple months. By rights I know somebody out there NEEDS this trans..... but at the end of the day I'm having "lack of $$$$" issues as well. The car is going to the junk yard in a couple days. :(

Usually cores go for 50-100 around here. Depends on area most likely. I'd try CL before throwing it away. And, if it doesn't sell, lower your price.

I smashed it up and separated steal from aluminum.. going to the scrap yard with the blazer on Monday or Tuesday, I just gotta pull the rear end, rear bumper, the 4 doors, and some dash switches and the fuel tank.

If only you said this sooner... I disassembled is and then smashed the case with a sledge hammer. Since its just scrap to me I was throwing the parts and not caring about keeping them clean.

Ouch!, I used to sell those "K" cases for $400.00 - $600.00 and believe it or not, 4L60E parts are getting harder to find. I used to sell a front planet for $20.00 and now I cant buy one for less than $50.00 (on the west coast anyway). Damn, hope you had fun....
