I've owned both Ryobi and Milwaukee.

The only ones I have now are Milwaukee. A 12v Milwaukee outperformed my 18v Ryobi.

I got some Ryobi stuff as a gift once... it was worth every penny I paid, and not a penny more. The batteries were dead within 6 months, and the tools had no power.

I love my 1/4" hex brushless impact. I can't justify owning an expensive 1/2" cordless impact that's worth a damn as well as a good 1/2" air impact, and the air impact is a lot more powerful, so air it is. I use my cordless all the time, for pretty much anything I'd use a screwdriver or up to 3/8" ratchet for, unless it's something very torque sensitive... and even then I'll use it to run the bolts/nuts down, for stuff like trans pans and such. Great for interior work too, especially with a 6" P2 bit.

If between those two, Milwaukee. The ryobi stuff works well but the battery's are garbage. High self discharge and in a year, you will need to charge them before every use.

I just sold off all of my ryobi 18v tools because of that reason. Liked the tool but it always needed to be charged.

Took about 3 years for my ryobi batt's to start shitting out. Still use them plenty of power, etc. but i do have to make sure i have fresh batteries all the time.

Homeowner/occasional use is where Ryobi shines... best value, huge selection and One+ format.
Milwaukee is the right choice for day-in/day-out reliability and durability.

I'm a big fan of Ryobi cordless stuff but they have their limits.
