This will be my first contribution to the forums.
I scored a 1947 Frigidaire off a local buy / sell / trade group on Facebook for a whopping $35.
First thoughts: It's in great shape overall. PO said it ran fine up until about 3 years ago; from what he said sounds like the compressor went out. Regardless it shouldn't be a major task to get her cooling again... famous last words right?
Plans:
1. Strip it, smooth it out, and paint it. Polish out the handle and detail pieces.
2. Remove internals and sleeve the interior with sheet - maybe diamond plate. I'm keeping the killer freezer though.
3. Install a set of taps - two or three, not sure.
4. Design and install a pilsner shelf. I have zero ideas as of yet.
5. Set it on locking casters (she's heavy!).
6. Plug it in and enjoy!
Few pics of the 1947 Frigidaire as it looked when I got it home:
