Packed the wheel bearings and adjusted the brakes on my little enclosed trailer. Replaced a vent cover on the motorhome.

Got a decent deal on these tool boxes, Texaco oil drain and drain barrel, and rolling tool cart, a some misc. wrenches, screw drivers, chisels, punches, etc. for $50 on CL. Spent yesterday cleaning up 2 of the tool boxes, working on the other stuff today.

Cleaned out the 2 stall, not completely happy with how it turned out but it's much better than before.

Still need to do the 1.5 stall, which is going to be a nightmare as I have an engine completely torn down in it, and a bunch of tools with stands, shelving, work bench, etc that I have no clue how to place for best use of the area.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Fabbed two adapters for my 14 inch and 5-1/4 inch miter saws, built a T for use with the vacuum too. Then started to put them to work and a sudden urge to take a nap came over me. I was awaken by the sound of flying metal parts. Linda was cutting grass and ran over the steel pipe that used to limit the door travel on her horse barn. It went across the shop/barn yard kicking up rocks and hit soundly into the right door of my truck. O well, just another dent I guess, the tornado put a few in it, I guess one more won't matter. Tried going back to sleep and she hit God knows what else, so I moved the truck this time, I didn't want to put more windows in it too soon. I threatened to park her '06 Dually in place of my truck, I got a few derogatory comments about that one. Decided I wasn't getting too much sleep with her around, so I vacummed the shop and started back cutting sticks to stake the 'mader plants up before it rains again. We might hitch my horse up later and go for an after drive around the neighborhood.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Pulled all the vehicles out and swept and then I had to open up the chapel for a funeral directors meeting...set them all up, ran with one of the funeral directors to potbellies to pick up a bunch of sandwiches..ate when we got back after we set the tables all up. Then I went back to the garage and started taking this old Prentiss Bulldog vice on my workbench apart..going to clean it all up and degrease it and give it a fresh coat of paint..went back and closed up the chapel when they were all done...got a nice crisp Benjamin Franklin as a tip:bounce: as well as 6 left over subs and a bunch of bags of chips. Once they all left I closed up the gates and went to my fridge in the house for a few beers to put in the garage fridge. And now I'm just hangin out havin an ice cold red stripe debating if I want to do anymore today.or just relax...im sure ill end up tinkering with something...

Hung the bikes from the ceiling, moved some things around in hopes to get at least one car in it this week. Also cleaned up some as it was first from leaves and such from having the door open these past few weekends.

This is pretty darn cool. While I can think of a handful of great uses, what's the intended purpose? IE: Do you frequent pick & pull yards and use it to get motors on the truck, or something else?

Hell yeah! I was tired of putting my full size picker in the back and trying to roll it in the mud at the bone yard. It also needed to be removable as the box is a dump bed for my demo work.

Also, lifting my plate compactor is going to be easy as pie now.

Got my motorhome ready to go after adjusting brakes on my trailer. I wanted to sweep the floor, but figured it would be a waste of time.

Toyota rear output seal (transmission) replaced, the hose I thought was the radiator overflow hose was the A/C belt (broken), tensioner was frozen.

Finally got it all together, A/C works again and is very cold. Relaxing at home, my older daughter and her husband are over for dinner, having a Shiner Bock.:bounce: Giving the new Blackhawk jack a workout.

I just tinkered today. Cleaned up some tools that I bought at yard sales and swap meets. I usually spend Sunday morning in the shop doing whatever comes to mind, unless I have a specific job of course.

So this happened over the weekend:

Worm drive is still in great shape. Annoys me that I have to wait a few days to get it fixed. You would THINK something so common to wear out would be stocked locally...but I guess the appeal of profiting from a $100+ replacement opener is far greater compared to a $5 piece.

ooohhhh I remember having to fix that! Mine went out late last year. You would think they would manufacture it with metal instead of plastic.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Started a transmission filter and fluid change on a friends 06 Dodge Ram 1500 PU. Three filters later we had the correct one. First filter was all wrong but we didn't have the old one to compare to. Second one had the correct pan gasket but the filter inlet was all wrong. Third one didn't call for a gasket but all the other part were correct, what's the deal with the baby spin on filter?

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Moved all the garage sale stuff I'm collecting from friends to the rec room so I can get my garage back. Picked up a 20 gal HF parts washer for $79 on raincheck. Going to put that on casters. Remembered to get a 3/8" pipe thread ballcock valve to screw into the bottom along with a hose bib and a bit of hose to attach to the bottom so I can drain it easily into a bucket later.

I need to look at the pump mechanism and figure out the pickup. I'd like to have it pull from an external oil filter to help keep the solvent clean if I can.

Last night I washed the coach and trailer from our week long trip to Moab. The Jeep will get washed tonight. Moab red dirt all over it, inside and out. The coach and trailer were spotless until the drive home Sunday night and we went through a downpour in the Salt Lake City area.

Here is a picture of our baby parked in Moab this past week for an RV Rally.

My thoughts exactly. Was thinking it would be great to get the gear and worm machined out of metal, but the time and cost just doesn't make sense. At least it is an cheap and easy fix.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

not technically the garage, its my 12x20 storage shed (low ceiling but has upstairs/loft storage)... I have a fair amount of long stuff.. some is the conduit for my building coming up (they are saying week of June 3rd!!) and other is wood scraps etc that are long enough to be worth keeping.. saw a post on here with someone had these track shelves stacked with lumber, so I figured out a way to make it work for me. they are 16" brackets with a 1/4" x 6" carriage bolt put in to act as a roll stop ( I am going to find some red air hose to cover the bolt as a visual reference and edge softener so I dont snag on them. there is more to be put up but the concept is clear.

also in pic, powder coating oven destined for new building, and 250ft of Mc 12/2.. this whole wall is destined for the new shop but the shelves(so is most of the other wall much to my wifes dismay) . I will either put up boards for shelves later or keep it for lumber/small metal. I'm just happy won't loose the floor space under it.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

My wife found the plans for it on http://pinterest.com/. I followed there instructions most of the way. Here it is online, http://ana-white.com/2012/08/upcycled-cedar-planters

It was pretty cheap to make also. I made both of them under $50. Once I stain them they should be pretty good. My wife now wants me to make two smaller ones for the front porch.

Replaced the power steering pump pulley on 96 Taurus. Practically got to pull the motor. LOL AllData's Book time is 1.4 hours. Took me 3 to figure it all out for the first time.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Being as the water heater is in the garage, I replaced the leaking plastic drain valve with a brass valve from Lowes. Turned off the gas, shut off the cold water inlet and drained the tank. Had to use a pipe wrench to get the old valve out and easily installed the new one with some pipe dope on the threads. Refilled the tank, bled the air off upstairs, then re-lit the pilot.

I had previously put a brass hose cap on it, but the valve was leaking by so bad it still had a drip and I could not get the cap tight enough without stripping the plastic threads. I do think it is about time to replace the heater though. I noticed the isolation valve had a little drip after I opening it back up and some corrosion on the threads at the cold water inlet. Can't complain since it is 28 years old.
