Lowe's deals today

Found one Gladiator wall cabinet left at my local Lowe's today thanks to all the guys who were talking about the sale in another thread.

My Lowe's had them on sale for $59 from $118 and I told them I saw the ad for $28.........since they only had one left, they gave it to me without too much hassle.

I also scored a 1/2" "super duty" composite Kobalt impact wrench rated for 525 ft. lbs. for $28 as well. It was normally $89.00 and at 70% off, I couldn't pass it up.

I've been holding out for an IR 231C for about a year now and even went to our Tractor Supply about a month ago to get one and they were all sold out. They are about the only ones around here that carry that gun unless I get it off the internet. I have been dead set on that one and the damn things have been sold out for weeks.

Lowe's had the IR 2317G, an impact gun and air ratchet set for $139, and the IR 2132, 600 ft. lbs. composite gun for $179, but I don't know a whole lot about them and didn't want to spend that kind of money on something I'm not familiar with. I figured they'd be fine and the 2317 package looks pretty good, but for $28 on a ninety dollar gun I took that one instead. I may also get that 231C anyway.

The 2132 impact is a good one. It isn't a 2135 by any means in terms of power, but it is dead quite compared to a 231. Don't get me wrong thinking it is weak, it seems to be a little stronger than a 231, but not anything like the 2135 impacts. The Nitrocat I used to use was like the 231, in that you could hear it whine as well as hammer. The 2132 is nearly silent except for hammering. You can find them all over the place, including e-Bay for less than Lowe's, though.

I am pretty sure I have that 1/2 super duty Kobalt impact wrench, as well as a IR 231G. They both work fine for the home user. I actually broke the chinese made IR231G and I've been forced to use the Kobalt impact wrench till I get around to getting a new one. I've only use the Kobalt wrench to do Tie Rods on a 15 yeard old Volvo and to loosen lugnuts.

So if your just a DIY garage monkey, and only use your air tools sparingly, then the Kobalt might be all you need. And for that price you really can't go wrong. I bought mine from Lowe's at a similar price and it's been my backup gun.

Iamhistory, What model number is the 1/2" impact? I went to lowes today and
bought the 49 piece air set for $47 normally $99. I was looking for the Impact wrench and didn't see any that were 525 ft. lbs. The 500 ft. lbs one was $69.99

The local Lowes has one left (display) but the price is $89.

However, the IR 2317G set was marked down to $55 and there was also one left. I did not know this set so I did not get it.

Found out that the Kobalt Impact wrench is model 232159. If someone from
CT or MA has purchased this at the clearance price of $27.99, will you post
your receipt. Thank you.

the 2317 kit is regular price at one Lowe's and $99 at the other. If it was $55 it would be mine as a decent spare set.

The max torque of the 1/2" in 2317 kit is lower than the Kobalt version discussed in this thread so I did not buy it.

Are the gun and wrench good? It is probably gone by now.

Thanks,

If the Kobalt one was $28 I would have bought it just to try it for a backup. That IR set isn't anything special, but for that price an impact wrench, air ratchet, and some sockets...definitely a decent backup set.

Thanks for the heads up. One of my local stores had it for $27. It was $2 cheaper than the lighter Kobalt gun rated at about 350 foot/lb. I was in the market because my CampbellHausfeld couldn't even break loose the lug nuts on my Saturn. Thanks.
