I'm looking for a metric 3/8" Snap On socket set (6pt). I've found some sellers on ebay selling "New" or "Like New" sets for around $100 (List IIRC is ~$140).

After getting chastized in another thread (http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37371) about almost overpaying for some used sockets, where can I get a fair price on a gently used or a new set of metric SO Sockets? Or is $100 for a new set the best I can do?

In my experience new Snap-on stuff on ebay goes for about 70% of the list price, unless it's poorly advertised. So $100 is about right - I've seen that set go for higher than that.

The two Snap-on items I bought new off ebay had minor blemishes on them. No big deal but I guess that's how people get them cheap.

Could you buy only the sizes you need, directly from Snap-on? Or do you really need all the sizes?

100 new is not bad but if you are willing to look at other brands, say matco, mac or cornwell you can find alot better deals on ebay. Seems that there are alot of Snap On sharks on ebay that over bid on everything. I was able to land a mint matco mid legnth metric set last week for $40. If the same set would have been snap on it would have gone for over $100.

you might also look for large lots... sometime you can get the majority of a set that way and then only have to find the missing ones...
