curious to hear the build plans for the knuckle w/girder fork hanging from the ceiling? it's got the makings of a cool period drag bike or something. looks good hanging there too.

It's kind of on the back burner for now. '46 knuckle, '32 VL frame, Royal Enfield girder. My idea of what someone would have used to build a sport bike in the early post war years.

I dig it. Just the building itself, not to mention all the cool old stuff you have in there. Is it all timber-framed like that? If so, that little carport/ garage will probably outlast all of us and our grandkids. Besides, what better place to work on old-school machinery than in a building constructed with techniques and technology that has been around for hundreds of years?

I am inspired, for sure.

Living in a rural area and having a ratty, leaky lean-to as a workspace, I was trying to convince myself I really wanted a sterile clean-room kind of shop.

Now I know that I don't. In fact, I never did.

Thanks for sharing those photos. I now have work to undo...;)

Nimrod, that is an awesome garage, and great projects. Did you do any modifications to it to make it more airtight? I have a tobacco barn I would like to convert to car space in the future, but like most tobacco barns, it was built with green lumber, and as the lumber dried, it left 1/2 to 1" gaps between the vertical boards.

Very cool garage :D

Are those stacks on the roadster engine made of brass pipe?

I really love garages and work spaces like this. You've stopped time exactly where you want it, and it looks great.

Excellent setup. You've given me a little hope as I'm going through a divorce right now. When its all settled and I buy a new place, I may try to build something that makes me smile like yours does. Way cool. thumbs up.

They're copper plumbing 90's cut in half, I've still got to do some trimming on 'em, attach some screens and make hold-downs.

The main portion of the shop has inside and outside boards insulated between, the addition is just board and batten (I haven't gotten around to the batten part yet). It hardly matters until I add some heat anyway.

You've got some of the coolest stuff i've evr seen! Is there any concrete or anything under the wood floor?

There are a couple of pier blocks, some concrete steping stones, garbage and dirt.

Is that a "Spitfire" residing next to the "barn"? Factory hard top too! ! Overdrive? They are quite rusty here in the mid-west. You have a FANTASTIC place! Not so excessive as many, but it seems you have planned well! I love it! STYLE!

I brought that Triumph home because it was little and cute...I just wasn't interested in it, and never drove it. It's replacement is a little bigger.

Kudos. VERY impressive layout! I just can't tell if you're out in the country a bit, or in the middle of a subdivision. (I see some other houses in the background.) Either way, awesome "spread'...

Your shop got brought back up by someone talking about cool shops that should/could be ina book. I recall seeing it 'cause it is so cool, but couldn't recall it or your handle - glad someone brought it up! Way cool. Any new pics?

Your garage is by far the nicest I've seen. I have one request, can you flip the American flag so that it is displayed properly? The Stars & Blue are always supposed to be in the upper left hand corner when displayed, (whether horizontally or vertical). Also, any interest in selling that flat-side Shovel? :)

I've seen this garage before and couldn't remember where. Then I picked up my Ultimate Garages book and found it. You never mentioned your garage was famous. It was one of my favorite garages in the book. Simple, nostalgic, and not perfect.

The finger reminded me of a little bar we had here in Springfield back in the late 70's when I was in school. The owner had a miniature version of that salute on a pedestal behind the bar next to the cash register. The inscription on the base? "**** YOU!"

While the real name of the bar was the Twilight Inn, we all affectionately called the place "DY's"!

That garage is the stuff dreams are made of. It looks like the perfect place to wrench on a classic... and the knuckle with girder forks just casually hanging on the wall... TOO MUCH MAN!
