Anyone have a wood prefab or modular garage that they'd care to share their experiences/recommendations with us here? Any good companies out there you guys can recommend? I'm in CT in case that matters.
I'm trying to do my homework ahead of time and any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Phil

Phil,

I am a new member to this forum. Did you ever get a response to your post about modular garage builders? I am also in CT, and have future plans for at least a 4 car garage with many bells and whistles.

TIA.

Wisconsin Pre-Fab

I just (early Dec) had a nice 24 by 40 garage put up by Best-Built Garages here in Wisconsin. Andy is the contact, and was great to work with. The thing came on a truck. Up in 3 days with 10' 2x6" walls, scissor trusses for 30' & storage trusses for 10' above the door, archetectural shingles, vinyl siding, 8' door, door opener, skylights and roughed out windows (which I put in. It's amazing and saved me months of "doing myself." I buried a gas line in schedule 40 (3/4"CSST) and conduit for cable, phone and a "service") prior to the slab. I recently wired it(100A Sub-Panel with wiring for a lift, welders, compressor, blasting cabinet, and other stuff), insulated it, and have started drywalling it. Ceiling height is 13' to the peak at the scissor truss. It's fantastic--even my wife was happy.

I live in CT and just had a pre-fab 2 car 2 story garage put up this past summer. I used Horizon Structures out of PA (www.horizonstructures.com) If you search my posts you will see a thread with pictures and details. It was a 24x24 garage with a second story and gembrel roof. Total cost was about 20k for the building and 3k for the concrete/permits/stone/etc. I am extremely happy with them. If you get serious about using them feel free to pm me and maybe we can set up a time for you to come look at mine to get a feel for finish and quality. I'm over in the south east side of the state.

Searching for some similar information via Google brought me to this thread. I know it's old, but I thought I'd throw a comment here anyhow.

I've been looking at options to build a new shed (16x20). Given the materials cost to do it myself, I am also exploring pre-fab options. And, as another alternative, I'm considering just putting an addition on my existing 2.5 car garage.

I'm quite capable to do all of this myself except for the foundation and slab work that would be required if I end up doing the garage addition. If anyone else in the Central / NW CT area would be interested in helping each other with their projects, maybe we could join together to put up structures all around in short time and at reduced expense.
