I got a quote from a guy with regards to purchase and installation of a garage guy heater to my 21 by 26 foot attached garage (with 10 feet ceilings). I am in Canada, so it can get pretty cold here. I am getting the 45,000 BTU model. I plan on insulating the garage completely in the future. I have two insulated doors.

Anybody heard of these types of heaters?

The quote includes:

- installation
- purchase of heater
- all black steel gas lines run though my furnace room, cold storage, and to the garage (about 40 feet of black steel). There will be two holes in concrete to be drilled to run this pipe
- concentric venting (vertical though room)
- install of thermostat
- The installation is a professional install with a licensed fitter & installer.

I will be doing the running of the 15 amp circuit myself, which is no problem, as the panel is in the garage, and has lots of room in it (200 amp service)

In Canada, home insurance can have a knot in their face if the work isn't done by someone with a license. However, that gas company inspector told me that by law, I am allowed to work on the pipes in my own home. (I am handy and could run my own pipe).

Does anybody here think that the concentric venting option is a little overkill? I do like to work with wood and stains on hobby projects, and I am not too sure if concentric venting is worth it?

Any opinions?

Thanks

Ryan
