Just moved to Morris County and plan to build a 2 car detached garage and need referrals/recommendations for quality builders. If you have someone you've used with good (or bad results, that I should steer clear of) let me know would a appreciate it.
My '34 and '41 Fords need a warm, drive place this winter!!!!
Thanks in advance,
Steve

Welcome to the People's Republic Of New Jersey. The state everyone hates when they're here, but can't wait to get back to when they leave. LOL

I'm in the same boat down here in Gloucester County. I'm actually thinking about going the Conestoga Building route right now. I had pondered trying to do a lot of my build on my own, but now I'm actually thinking about killing two birds with one stone and adding an addition to my house too. I'm not handy enough with wood working to try to take on an addition on my own, so now I have to find a contractor that I can trust.
I'll let you know if I come up with anyone trust worthy, but I won't likely be making any calls until the end of the winter.

Thanks for the info, agreed NJ is DEFINITELY NOT CA but it's where I'm at and will make the most of it! Will let you know if I find quality contractors/builders here. Have gotten lots of leads through ServiceMasters and am interviewing GC's at the moment, will let you know the feedback.

Hey all, I have dealt with Conestoga and you should definately check them out. Great company and the business name is actually C B Structures Inc., and think you would be really happy with them. Website is cbstructuresinc.com They have a great referral program too! Would be worth looking into. Good luck!

While I'm not sure how far they will travel...I have only positive things to say about Stoltzfus Structures in Atglen, PA. You can get info at mysheds.net. Great folks to work with and the expected Amish quality.

They built my garage in two days...4 guys each day. Cement was done prior to their arrival. They brought the walls, trusses, pre-made.

I just got an estimate from Shirk Pole Buildings and so far they seem to be the best value for what you get. They quoted me about $15k for a 24x32x10'4" building with a 12'x24' vaulted ceiling area for lift clearance including 4" 4000 psi concrete with fiber and saw cuts, delivery and instal. They also pour 8" footers where your lift will go for added strength and support. I'm having a contractor come by tomorrow to give me a quote on some other things I want done to the house and then I'll start the paperwork for the funding. I'm thinking Shirk is gonna get my business unless someone can give me a reason why they shouldn't.

Welcome. I also live in Morris County. I would highly reccommend Fernando at Garage and Beyond for any floor work (epoxy, quartz, etc..) and cabinetry/finishing if you want to go that route. He did my floor and it was great service from a great company.

I also know some builders but don't know their quality as I haven't used any. I will ask around.

Sorry I can't help with a contractor for NJ, but if you can do any of the work yourself
you might want to look at this system or have a contractor look at the time and money he would save by not using trusses.

Using Conestoga for a 24' x 26' pole barn garage in northern NJ. Cheaper than Pioneer, more expensive than Shirk. Very accommodating though; I needed a 1 hour fire rating on one wall due to setback issues and they had no problem doing it (extra $ of course, but Shirk really wasn't interested in deviating from their typical construction). Construction should start in a couple of weeks; so far they have been great to deal with.
