It's Not yet complete. ;)

Few issues with the house that need to be fixed before I do much more to the garage, but for the main construction, it's finished. Some more painting and cabinet door adjustments and I will be happy.

the next version will be built better... might start that in spring. *looking at a new house with larger yard and larger garage*

CONSTRUCTION NOTES:
- frame is 2x4 pine lumber
- sides and face plates are 1/2" plywood
- shelves are 5/8" particle board for top shelves and 3/4" for lower shelves
- paint is oil based enamel from lowes.
- shelving rubber is from lowes. *label shows it to be used under a tread mill. i think it was a 4'x8' roll for $40
- legs are brushed aluminum, adjustable. online search should help.
- the "closet" cabinet next to the garage clears by 1/2"
- entire cabinet system is screwed to the wall and doesnt require legs or floor support, but I added them for safety to the lower cabinets.
- "closet" will support me at 250lbs
- counter top is 3/4" plywood. 4'x8' sheet was cut into 2'x8' and glued together and screwed from each side using 1 1/8" sheet rock screws
- metal secured to counter top
- metal with counter top screwed to frame

the overhang near the tool boxes will be used for a vice. holes will be drilled through the metal and wood to hold it in place.
MORE PAINT will be added. white on edges and backs of doors not yet painted. then a few more additions to the doors will come over winter.

more to come!

I like the work bench is it stainless?
Thanx Trevor

negative... .063 aluminum
price for the 4'x10' sheet was $212
90 degree break was $15 *for the wall.
the roll in front was via 2x4 and a few hours of work.

price for stainless was almost double the price.
i figured since my plan was to only be in the house for 3 years, the aluminum would work for my needs.

next version will be stainless

I went with Aluminum also was under 100 an 4X10 sheet from Reliant Steel. Stainless was just too much. Like the cabinets also looking good.

Looks great!

I love to see all the pictures of garages on this site. Hopefully I'll take all this inspiration and get my garage finished this spring. It's been a work in progress for way too long!

I've been wanting to use Sketchup for a while now too. How helpful was for you?

sketchup was a huge help in sizing and material needs.

if you're going to build anything custom, it's a great help!
use the measurement tool, change the field of view and use the standard views *left, right, top bottom* to print some decent scaled drawings.

hope it helps!

chris that sketchup file will be a big help. i have almost the same exact layout. only change I need to make is the workbench has to fold up or down to allow both vehicles to park inside should a hurricane come through.

glad it helped! i have enough room in the garage for 1 bike, a chevy s-10 and a subaru forester.
Cool art. Nice DRZ
thanks! the DRZ left me last week. wasnt riding it enough, so have a few toys to replace it ;)

Like the art and the benchtop.

Great job.
if i had to do it again, i would pay to have the metal rolled at a metal shop and the breaks exact. was quite a bit of work to get it laying down correctly.

the art was something of an after thought. I first had plans to add something like a troy lee mural or just a few decals from motorcycle products. i thought i should do something a bit more original, so i made a few parts inside sketchup, viewed them with a wide angle "depth of perception" and turned them to fit where i wanted. I think it makes the layout a bit more universal, so when it's time to sell the house I shouldnt have a need to remove stickers or paint over the layout.
