Hi Guy's need some help adding some pictures of my floor this weekend to this post, so ya'll will know what I'm starting with.

I would like a light gray base with a dual grafic line design with a large C-5 corvette logo in the center. Have the Idea of what I want but no idea on how to do it. I know I have to prep the floor and etch it with acid. Think I can then put down a few coats of the light grey and line out the lines with a laser and duck tape.

But help me with getting a large C5 corvette logo I can't draw for ****! Need some ideas? Decal?

option 1
go online and find a large decal.
put it on the floor and clear over it

option2
go to the mall
find one of those places that make the vynal lettering decals
have them make what you want. apply it to the floor and clear over it

I know this is of no help but if you could think of someway to literally project the image from a slide or something onto the surface, you could then use that to tape off your image. LOL, now how and what you'd use to do that with tho... I have no clue!!! LOL, sorry, I know I'm useless but hey, maybe someone else will know an obvious easy way to achieve this.

I have it in eps vector format. You can take the file to a good sign shop and they could blow it up to any size, nice and clean.

Have a vinyl decal made, coat the floor, place down decal, and clear coat. If the decal is larger than 2 or so feet you might want to clear coat the coating first, then put down the decal, and follow with a couple of coats of clear just over the decal. If it's even larger you might consider having it printed on that window vinyl with little holes so the clear can adhere to the underlying coating.

Beer budget method:

Get the largest version of the C5 logo you want that you can. Find it on the net, take it to a Kinko's and have it enlarged, as large as your budget allows. Then CAREFULLY draw an exact grid of squares on top of it. However many squares you draw vertically and horizontally you need to draw a like number of squares in pencil on top of your gray base coat floor paint. Label these lines A-Z in one axis and 1-whatever in the other axis.

Now the hard part: Copy the contents of each little square into the corresponding large square on the floor. Obviously the finer you make the squares on the smaller C5 image, the less you have to be "artistic". If a line crosses square A6 at the upper left corner, then you need to make the same line cross the big square A6 on the floor. I've found when doing this the best way is to place "points" on the corresponding locations and then later use something flexible like a thin ruler, etc to connect the points on the finished version. This process DOES work; an obviously it is cheap. It even has a name...but I confess I've forgotten what it is. Last, use a compatible paint to paint the final image on the floor.

Best of luck. Make sure you post pictures of your progress and the outcome.
