Thought id share pics of my outside compressor room/shack. It was built with all left overs from pole barn build. Total i have 76 bucks in quick crete for floor. So far Just to build room. I still have to run the pipe from here to pole barn which is about 25 ft away. I plan on putting carpet pad on inside walls and then foam board to clean it up and hopefully sound proof it so i can run it late at night. The fan is dayton thermostat controlled with shutters. I put 5in of crete with plastic vapor barrier, i also spray foamed the corners and joints of the wood/metal to help keep vibration noise down, and mounted the compressor on raised wooden base to help absorbe noise. Theres 1 ,110 line and 1 ,220 line out there.Still have to deceide on door ,prob just gonna build a wood door on hinges. Its a champion 3 hp commercial compressor bought used for $150 bucks at auction. HEAVY S.O.B !!! I figure ill run 3/4 black pipe the 25 ft to pole barn then another 30ish 3/4 to midway barn inside with 1/2 inch drops, about 5 of those. Sound like it will work??? i read alot on this site about runs of air line , this is my plan. Any added advise would be great thanks.

Looks good, but a few questions: why did'nt you make it closer than 25' or right ext to the garage to cut down on the pipe run? Do you plan on running the pipe in the ground? I'm not sure where you live but freezing can be a problem.

Hey guys , i plan on putting a outside air pickup tube on the compressor, and intake vent on the door i build. I built it 25 ft from garage because i have neighbors close to the garage itself, right outside the garage would be too close to nearest neighbor...if iam gonna torture them with noise from inside the garage at 12 midnight might as well give them a break with compressor noise;) Yes i plan on running the pipe along the fence line above ground to the garage incase i need to service it.

Something to consider if freezing is a concern. twist heat tape (de-icing cable) around the pipe, then put on foam pipe insulation like they use on AC line sets. You wouldn't have to run the heat tape all the time, but it sure would make things easy if the pipe ever froze up solid!

Ok question? Is anybody with out side compressor having a frozen line problem?? I live in nj and always have had my compressor inside. I cant imagine dry winter air producing enough moisture to freeze solid a 3/4 in pipe. Does it happen??

i run my compressor outside and it reaches -45 celsius here. which is about -42 f, for you americans. but mine is only 5 feet from my garage. i have not had a problem with mine freezing, but i guess i can attribute that to being a little closer than you. mine blows any moisture right through into my garage. i know this because it was coming out my tools :lol_hitti
could you put an air dryer right at the source to eliminate any moisture before it hits the major part of the line??

That looks good. I dont think you will have to worry about the line freezing solid. Make sure the line slopes toward your drop legs.

freezing and distance from the shop would be my biggest concern. regardless of a drier or not, that 25ft run is bound to produce some moisture. i would think that lil bit of moisture still left in the line would freeze on cold nights.
