Okay...........a few years ago I bought these cabinets from SAMS club for $94 each.

I originally bought just one but liked it so much I went back and bought two more.

They where originally the office grey/brownish metal color. I think thats what these cabinets are actually made for.

Anyway, I just had a friend who owns a powdercoating business do these up for me. They came out really nice and Im super happy. Hes a good bud so he didnt charge me. However, I did ask him how much it would normally cost and he said around $75 per cab.

I just wanted to point out another option instead of spending crazy money on the normal garage cabinets we normally see.

These cabinets are very heavy, all welded and not bolted together. SO, I have a total of $270-$280 for these 3 cabinets.

Even If I had to pay for the powder its waaaay cheaper than a cabinet like gladiator.

I can honestly say, these are better than them. These lock and everything. Only drawback is NO CASTERS. Although you could mount them easlily, the cabinets are that rigid!

Just giving options..........

Good deal and nice look. I just bought the Seville Classics cabinets from Sam's Club and the 6ft. tall cabinets (unassembled, but with casters) were $188+tax, each. So, you definitely have a good deal. Plus the red is very cool!

The Sevilles are very nice, gray powder coat w/stainless steel doors, but they are bolted together, certainly not as rigid as trussed/welded construction.......but, look good and are fairly inexpensive.

So, what does the inside look like in you cabinets; how many shelves??

Also, is that RaceDeck flooring under them?? If so, I am considering that product and would appreciate your feedback about it. How has it held up, if it ever sees bad weather, rain, snow, etc., what happens to the water & the concrete underneath, et.al.??

Thx.

See ya. :hellobye:

Doesn’t powder coating require ‘baking’… what size oven does your buddy have?

I’ve seen valve cover that cost more than that to powder coat and they were baked in a convention modified home oven.

Your buddy sure did you right. The cabinets look awesome!

Here is a photo of the inside as requested. As you can see the inside is still the original color. I thought it would be just to much red if he did the inside as well.

Not to mention I didnt want to push it and look a gift horse in the mouth.

Very cool. This is what I intend to do when I do my garage.

Did they mask the interior off to do the inside of the doors?

Im not sure how they actually powdercoat. I imagine they "masked off" because it has very crisp/clean lines.

I know they pulled the doors to powder them.

I went to the SAMS site and they still sell cabinets like these, or at least very similiar. Although the price has gone up a bit since I purchased mine.

I just put this out there because with the cabinet/powder costs you would still be considerably less than gladiator and some of those types.

And.........in my opinion these are far stronger. Go to SAMS and check them out. Just ignore the color and have an open mind.

The color actually isnt that bad. I just wanted red. I would actually say that if you didnt want a bold color the grey-brown works well. Then youre really getting a good deal.

I saw your cabinets in another thread, those are outstanding! Where is your buddy's shop located? The powder coating seems like a great price with results like that.

Another storage option I like are 5 drawer lateral filing cabinets, where the top drawer is really just a shelf on drawer guides. Keeps everything covered and is great for putting bulky power tools in, like saber saws and hammer drills. I get them cheap from a state university surplus store in MD, Terp Trader. Cost is ~$50-75 depending on condition.
