That sells for $22 or so elsewhere (I spotted it the other day). It's NOT a Proto quality tool - it's a Stanley "consumer-grade" tool. Which is not to say that it's bad, but it's probably not of typical Proto quality.

no comparison imop.that ratchet only looks in a few positions. i think five. left and right 45 and 90 degrees and straight. the proto locks in many more positions than that in a full 360 degress

I have the same tool, branded Husky Pro (but I'm about 99% confident it's a Stanley).

I paid about $11 for it, give or take. I've found 1 situation in which it *almost* worked, otherwise, it's just been sitting idle. I imagine that quality on such a niche tool isn't horribly important, compared to your standard/everyday-use stuff.

Thanks. I didn't think they were the same, but the Danaher products are often very similar across brand names, so I thought I should ask the "experts'' on the GJ forum.

Does anyone know anything about the Stanley 3/8 in. Dr. Professional Grade Indexible Head Ratchet that Sears has on their web site. Is this comparable to the Proto Indexible Head Ratchets?

Here's the link http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00973590000P?vName=Tools&cName

No! I do have one that came with a socket set, the set includes the popular 19/32" socket.

I have a Mastercraft rebrand that I've used many times to loosen/tighten hard-to-reach exhaust flange bolts.

One other feature is the free-wheel position that could be used when working in tight situations. You simply loosen/tighten a fastener by a pull-push motion.

I got the Blackhawk Metric version on eBay for about $25.00

Looks like the same set to me. And if I ever need a 23mm 3/8" socket, I'm ready.

And after a quick look in the tool chest, I think these are the ratchets you're asking about:

Definitely not the same. The Stanley, and the Blackhawk I linked above are definitely imports while the Proto is "assembled in the USA of global components".

How common are those protos? I've looked at the Stanley one and it doesn't seem as useful since it only locks in a few positions.

The other I looked at was a Matco since it locks in 11 positions I think

I have the same ratchet, But in Australia it is re badged as sidchrome and has a different handle. I cant compare it to a proto ratchet but can tell you as a ratchet its good but the idea of it is pointless. I have never actually needed to use it.
