Hello,
I just started working at a small repair shop and am trying to put together a descent tool box of my own, the boss has tons of HF tools scattered all over the shop so I don't have to have my own tools, but I would like to have access to what I need when I need it without wandering the shop searching. Plus I know that having a proper tool for a task will save me lots of time and frustration every day. As I stated the shop is littered with HF tools from end to end so I don't want to bring in an expensive set and end up with everything "borrowed" and missing. I had a small pail of sockets from cheap tool kits of the past that I sorted through to put together useful socket rails of shallow 1/4 and 3/8 drive mm and sae plus a 1/2 drive sae. I also bought a combo wrench set for cheap that goes up to 7/8 and 19mm. I have a couple of stubby 1/4, 3/8 combo drive ratchets a double jointed 3/8 flex ratchet and a basic ratchet in 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2. I have my own misc small pliers, and a couple of screwdrivers. So the bottom line is I'd like to buy a few things I'm missing, or if someone can put together a kit for me I'd buy duplicates of what I already have in order to just make one purchase. I don't need tool truck tools, and don't have the money for them if they're offered. I may eventually end up rounding out my tool set from HF but I would rather have different branded tools in order to make it easier to pick mine out and put them away when we finish up a project. I have use of a small tool cart, but plan to buy a small HF rolling tool box in order to properly organize and store my tools as I get a more complete selection. Here's the breakdown of what I'd like to buy if I can get a good deal. I'm also open to suggestions from experienced mechanics, and sets as I mentioned. There's a lot more stuff that I could use, but right now I'm not looking to invest that much money into this job, at least not until I've made some more money at it first. Thanks Last edited by Thegratenate; 10-18-2012 at 08:44 PM. |

Bump and update.
I have most of what I asked for in my original post, now what I am missing are deep or medium deep sockets pretty much all of them if anyone can spare sets. I would also like to get a set of 1/2 drive metric sockets. There are still lots of specialty tools and misc things that I would like to get, but please pm me to ask. Thanks, and thanks to those that have helped me. |

Another bump and update,
My collection is getting more rounded, and I'm still finding more and more tools that I would love to have. If anyone has a ridiculously long 3/8 ratchet for a reasonable price I'd like to get one, fine tooth is a must on this and I would consider other drive sizes if it's a package deal. I also would like to buy sets of mid length sockets starting with 3/8 metric, but expect that I'll have to just buy the gearwrench offering currently available. If anybody has a powerprobe that is collecting dust I could take one of those off your hands. Line wrenches. Obstruction wrenches. Some 1/2 extensions. 3/8 drive screwdriver and torx sockets. I'm not looking too bad right now, but I always find something else that I think I need. Thank you PS I have no paypal account right now and no plans of signing up real soon so Money order is king for now. Last edited by Thegratenate; 10-18-2012 at 10:31 PM. |
