I've had an old Plomb 3/8 universal (WF-24) laying around with a bad detent spring. I tried to figure out how to fix it to no avail.

I didnt want to toss it, but I also don't want a 'collection' of tools that cant be used. So I was faced with a bit of a dilemma. Then it donned on me that I don't have a 5/8 spark plug Ujoint. So i took an extra Craftsman spark plug socket and soldered it to the Ujoint with some plumbing flux and solder.

It worked well and help up for the set of plugs that I changed, so I assume it will hold up long term. Ill report back if it doesn't.

I only had half the U joint so I made the other parts from stock. Mine has an attached 18" extention and is driven with an 8mm socket. Its handy as can be on those older V8 trucks.

You'll love having it around.
