I've been lurking for a few months and enjoying the site. I thought it was time for me to add my two cents.
Included are pics of my 16x22 shop that I built behind my home 6-7 years ago. It is a work in progress (that's half the fun) but I enjoy the hell out of it. It is great having a place to work without being bothered.
Between the tools, radio, tv, MINI KEG, and fridge, it is a wonder I ever go in the house. If I had a bathroom out there, I probably wouldn't.
Enjoy. I would love comments, suggestions, ideas, or any thing else you would like to add.
Next project. Adding a Dayton 5000 watt heater for this winter, and possibly a small dust collection system.
Anyway here it is:

absolutely fantastic! I love those shelves for the drill press and bandsaw! The walls remind me of my cottage in the woods :)

Man I've seen some poor layouts but this takes the cake.. What's the deal with the sittin chair on one side of the room and the beer tap on the other. Man you got some fixin to do. The rest looks quite nice. I really like the shelf of bins up high, I might just steal that one.

Keep up the good work

This is the coolest little area I've seen. And by little I mean cozy, comfy, and well put together.

I could hang out in that place all day long. Might even work on something.

A+

Very nice! Although the keg with no bathroom seems to be a bit of an oversight. :D

I like the pedestals that the saw/drillpress/grinder are on. Are they just plywood, or is there some internal framing?

Very Nice! I like the bin storage as it all blends in. I may have to steal a few of those ideas for my own build.

I decided on the 4x8 sheets of pine (Menards) over drywall because at 5/8 thick, I never have to hunt for a stud if I want to mount something on the wall. Personally I just like tlhe looks over drywall also plus no tape, mud, painting, or repairing dents, holes. I also put it in my garage 4' high to protect the walls.

Awesome shop!! Lots of time put into to it for sure!! Just curious though, how do you handle dust collection on all of those machines? Also what are the hooks for in the center beam above? I'm just curious as to how it all functions and flows when working, as I have a lot of equipment as well in a small space.

A beautiful shop. Proves you don't have to spend millions to have one of the nicest spaces on the forum.

Your wife is lucky she ever sees you. If I had a spot like like I'd never leave it.

Once you get the heater installed you may want to get your mail forwarded there :)

I had a small penn ind. Dust collector that I sold to a neighbor. I need to replace it.
As far as the hooks on the ceiling. They are there if I need to hang something to paint. The only reason the beam (actually a 1x6) is even on the ceiling is to cover a hairline crack that was developing in the drywall. Every time I would walk into the shop, that damn crack is all that I would see. Being able to cover your mistakes is a skill I often rely on, unfortunately.

Nothing is spectacular but yet it is all spectacular. It is an amazing setup for a smaller space. Everything is where it belongs. Awesome setup!

I am curious about what this is...

I am curious about what this is...

...looks like a handle hole for the block that comes out so a mitre saw will sit level with the work surface.

Real nice little shop! Gotta ask though... is that wnba poster? If so, thats just weird... hah! :spit:

Love the pine...very homey.

Not that kind of homey, the other kind.....

Looks like a nice comfortable space to me!

If the mini keg has Heiney in it, what is the fridge for?

The circled area is a handle to pull out an area for my comp. miter. Nice guess....wrong on the WNBA though. That is my daughter. Drake university and 14th in the nation in scoring last year D1. Sorry.........proud Pop.
Fridge is bottled water, miller lite, a couple diet pepsi, and a bag of snickers.

While your out there take the hole saw and dril a hole at an angle through the back wall you can fit a funnel in :D. Bathroom problem solved at least for the beer . The brahts will still require a trip inside the house :D.

Love the shed by the way . I have been considering adding something for my growing machine shop tools to make more room in the garage for auto projects.

Thanks Rick. You guys don't even want to start with me about how I handle the "no bathroom" issue. Let's leave it at that.

My neighbor, who is moving, just sold us his 40" flat screen for next to nothing. In my mind, that thing was already in my shop. We still have a 27" tube in our bedroom and I think the shop would have been burned down with me in it if I would have put it there. Got to admit, the wife was correct on this one. I'll look for another deal.
