All the pricey sets are $549.99!! Set usually lists for $7299.91

I tried adding it, but I'm not able to. See if you can add it or one of the other high dollar sets to your cart. Obviously an error they are trying to fix, but hey, I figure it's worth a shot.

The complete sets are not $549 - only the $300 pc set
That is there new system of displaying "Starting prices as low as $549"
They've been doing that with the tool box combos.

Yea, I gotcha on the new tag line for stuff. But, that's not what it says here.

The thumbnail view shows the $549 price with the with a strikethorough on the list price and $6XXX.** savings but when I click on the items it clearly displays each module as an itemized add on.

More power to anyone that can the complete sets for that price.
Print the price out and go for an in store price match.;)

Deceptive. Probably a mistake. Does not promote good will with the customers though.

Not like Sears needs any good will building with me

If they deceive us, then it's fair to deceive them!

Print out this ad, go to Sears, find the teenaged girl salesperson, show her the ad and tell her to mark it down accordingly. Hope you get out before the manager shows up.

I wouldn't, but I'm an honest guy.

It says...read below:

Craftsman 1340 pc. Professional Tool Set
$549.99 $7299.91
Save $6749.92
thru 12/15/07
All items on sale
Items sold separately

So I'm just trying to save $6749.92 on the set.....oh why won't it work.......

I'm on the phone (on hold) with Sears right now trying to buy the 1246 piece set. (I'm not trying to be greedy you know!)

:monkey_piWell, I just got off the phone after speaking to "Wendy". I thought I was going to luck out, but I guess she read between the lines. I asked about their policy of honoring internet ads and she told me to read the "terms of use".

There is also this mistake on their website.
Craftsman 93 pc. 6-point Impact Socket Set with Mechanics Gloves & 10 pc. Air Tool Kit
$99.99
Orig $479.98
Save $379.99
thru 12/11/07

Wow would that ever be a deal (saving 379.99). Also, I have been reading this forum for quite some time but this is my first post. I just wanted to say hi, and since comming here, my tool spending has increased substantially.

Good attempt, Herb. At least you tried. But unfortunately, I think the phone takers are too with it lately after all these price errors.

What a xmas that would have been!

Even better... print out that web page, take it to the local Snap On man and see if he will price match. :lol_hitti

Irritating as Hell. False advertising at best.

They have done that with the tool chest cabinet combos, too. Looks like a great price, but then you see it's only for one piece, not the combo.

Heck, if you look at their chest/cabinet combo webpage right now, you can get the 1340-piece tool set, plus a 40" chest cabinet combo for...you guessed it...$549.99!

I wonder what the FTC would have to say about this ****.

Yup; just checked the pro tool sets again, and the pricing is still the same as yesterday. In fact you really can't order anything at all in that tool section.

Can you imagine what the stockholder's are thinking right now -- two weeks before Christmas and their website is so "hosed up" that it can't properly display, price or complete an online transaction.

If I owned stock in Sears, I'd sell it in heartbeat.

Their website is a pain in the harse but I have a hard time calling them "Fraudulent" just because I can't buy $8000 worth of tools for $500 bucks.

If their cart system would have let me buy it, I'm not saying I wouldn't have one on the way though ;)

It's not "fraudulent"...it's more like "intentionally misleading", or "bait and switch".

Everyone is entitled to a mistake now and then, but page after page of misleading advertising can hardly be considered a "fluke".

Sure, I just start to get over missing out on the Fluke meter price deal a while back and you bring it up again. Thanks a lot. Now my Christmas is ruined.:bounce:

don't bet on it...

Even if the company goes under, the brand has enough recognition that it's unlikely to go away. If they go under, someone will buy the Sears name and stores, sell off the unprofitable operations, and restart the business. Picture "Sears Stores, a division of Walmart" or some such.

As I recall, SHLD bought K-Mart because they had a lot of retail sites that were valuable as property. It's a pretty well-managed company, regardless of whether you agree with how the Sears retail operation is run.

I sent them an e-mail regarding the 549.00 deal for the 1340 piece set. They waited a couple of days to respond and then sent me an e-mail stating to try it again.....buy it that is, now the error on pricing is fixed. Back to 7k for the set.

Great. Now when the FTC guys I sent the complaint to get around to looking at the site, they're gonna think I'm daft or something.

...or maybe they already have...:lol_hitti

Of course, they didn't fix all of them. Look around, if you have the means, there are still deals to be had...
