My DD is a 1997 Toyota Camry, and the ignition lock is starting to go (it's getting stuck when trying to turn the key past the ACC point).
Any techs here that can tell me how to go about replacing this? I've searched the web but despite this being a fairly popular issue, I haven't come across much help. From what I have found, the lower plastic panel is removed, the key is turned to the ACC position, and at that point there's a pin that can be removed, thus allowing me to pull out the cylinder. I'm getting labor quotes of around $200, and that plus the $250 for a new cylinder and re-coding for my key, it's getting a bit pricey.

How long do you figure for removal and replacement? It would appear even a willingful novice can make this repair - would I be correct?
