For Sale: 1977 Vermont Castings Vigilant Wood Stove in DC Area $750

UPDATE: If sold to a member of this forum, I'll throw in all of the stuff that we removed from the chimney, which includes 3 good 24" sections of 6" Duratech stainless steel chimney, the stay rods and clamp, the flashing base and the chimney cap. Also, There are 2 more sections of the chimney that were dented during removal. The buyer would be welcome to them, if he/she wanted (I just don't want to suggest that they're usable if they might not be)

This stove is in perfect condition. I used it a few times since buying the house, but we've removed it for the renovation. It's cast iron, rated at 50,000 BTUs, can take 18" logs from the front or top, has an externally operated damper (reburn operation) and generally rocks. You can flip the stack for a rear-exit flue. I will include the screen for the front, the indoor flue sections (including the damper section) and the double-walled flue and everything that I can salvage from the exterior of the house, assuming you can take it with you.

This is a really nice unit. They seem to sell for $800-1100 used online, so I'll take a little less than that in hopes that it goes to someone that will use it.

For Local Pick-up Only - This badboy is heavy!

Email me at clay [dot] weiland {at} gmail (dot) com or call 2OH2-SEVENoneTHREE-76FIVETHREE. I'm in Silver Spring, MD.

Wow, that brings back memories. We had that exact stove in the house I grew up in. It's a great stove that really puts out the heat. We used to roast almonds (also the source for the wood) on top.

Also, those chrome steel rods at the back corners pull out and hang horizontal for drying clothes, gloves, socks, etc.

The air nazi's out here are really trying to kill wood burning, nevermind the fact it's renewable and sustainable.

Sorry for the thread hijack, great stove, I hope someone buys it and uses it.
